to take 7½ acres in Datchet Mead valued at 5l. 10s. 0d. per an. for
enlargement of Windsor Little Park. I rate the remainder as above.
"I am not to advise your Lordships concerning the petitioner's
request for having this sum [130l.] allowed him in part of the debt
due to his late brother Mr. Simon Smith supra p. 130 [as late Knight
Harbinger] which seems to be a much greater sum; but presume
your Lordships will not divert it from the use 'tis designed for;
there being many other proprietors of lands at Windsor who must
be satisfied by [sic for for] their respective interests, towards which
this and the other fines of Mr. Michell, Mr. Aldworth and Mr. Powny

p. 147 in order to a lease thereof to John Powney for 99 years on a
fine of 80l.: with a covenant to have granted to him and his
heirs the rent of 16l. 13s. 4d. per an. payable out of the rectory of
Old and New Windsor and further with a covenant to convey to
the King the tithes of corn and hay arising out of about 300 acres
of land designed to be laid into Windsor Little Park. |

Prefixing: report ut supra. He claims the tithes by virtue of
a grant 1613 April 28 of the Rectory of Old and New Windsor to
Francis Maurice and Fra. Phillips. They average 37l. per an. and
I value them at 740l. The farm was granted in 1677 to John Powney,
petitioner's father, at 3l. 18s. 4d. per an. which lease passed in consideration of a release of all tithes of the Great Park and Mote Park
at Windsor. The farm is now let at 50l. 10s. 0d. on the rack. I
rate the renewal thereof at 300l.; 165l. for the scite of the manor
of Old and New Windsor, being formerly a mean tenement surveyed
at but 4l. per an. above the old rent of 8l. 6s. 8d. per an. which
was leased to petitioner's father in 1673; for the purchase of the
16l. 13s. 4d. per an. rent now in charge to the Crown payable out of
the said Rectory for ever I rate 355l., making altogether 820l.;

100l. for the charges of keeping and making up these accounts;
80l. for Exchequer charges on the making up this accompt: the
total discharge amounting to 67,394l. 18s. 7d.: all which the Earl
of Ranelagh reports truly paid for account of the said Forces and
the King thinks fit to allow although such formal warrants, receipts
or other vouchers as are requisite by the strict rules of the Exchequer
were not had or cannot be produced for the same or some of them.
