Powell's Petition.

ORDERED, That the Petition of Mrs. Bridget Powell be read This-day-sevennight.

Warner's Petition.

Ordered, That the Committee at Goldsmiths Hall do not proceed upon the Petition of George Warner Esquire, preferred to this House the Twentieth Day of June instant; but only according to the Order of this House, made the said Twentieth of June, touching the said George Warner.

Samuell's Claims.

Ordered, That the Report touching Mr. Samuell's Business be made This-day-sevennight.

Sir W. Dick.

Ordered, That the Report from Goldsmiths Hall, touching Sir William Dick's Business, appointed for this Day, the first Business, be made on This-day-sevennight, the first Business; nothing to intervene.

Earl of Rutland, &c.

The Certificates of the Chief Justices and Chief Baron, touching the Miners in Darbisheire, and the Earl of Rutland, was this Day read.

The humble Petition of John Earl of Rutland was this Day read.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Justices of Assize for Darbisheire, to call the Parties concerned on both Sides before them; and to examine and end the Business between the Earl of Rutland, and the Miners of Darbisheire, if they can; or otherwise, to certify their Opinions therein to this House.

Lancaster Justices.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal, to nominate and appoint Justices of the Peace, and of Gaol Delivery, for the County Palatine of Lancaster.

Lancaster Assizes.

Serjeant Thorpe reports Amendments to an Act for the Assizes to be held at the Castle of Lancaster: Which were read; and agreed.

And the Act, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be printed and published.

Lord Grey's Claims.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Army, to consider of the Lord Grey's Charges, disbursed for the State, for the last Summer's Service; and what he hath received; and how Satisfaction may be given him; and report their Opinions therein to this House forthwith.

Report deferred.

Ordered, That Mr. Marten do make his Report from the Council of State, the first Business, To-morrow Morning; nothing to intervene.

Acts to be passed.

Ordered, That it be referred to a Committee, to consider of the Report from the Council of State, touching the Acts to be passed before the Adjournment; and to consider which of them are of absolute Necessity to be taken into Consideration, and passed, before that Time; and report the same to the House, To-morrow Morning: Viz. Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Weaver, Sir Wm. Strickland, Colonel Harrison, Mr. Bond, Colonel Venn, Colonel Fleetwood, Colonel Wauton, Sir Peter Wentworth, Mr. Salway, Mr. Leman, Mr. Holland, Colonel Bosvile, Sir Wm. Masham; or any Three of them: And this Committee are to meet this Afternoon at Two of the Clock, in the Exchequer Chamber.

And the Care hereof is recommended to Mr. Weaver.

Fens.

A Petition, intituled, "The humble Petition of the Parties whose Names are thereunto annexed, on the Behalf of themselves, and other Lords, Owners, and Commoners, of and in the Fens belonging to Holland and Keveston in Lincolnsheire, wherein many Undertakers pretend an Interest and Title, under an illegal Project of draining the same," was this Day read.

Ordered, That the said Petition be referred to the Committee that brought in the Bill for the Fens; to take the same into Consideration; and report the true State of the Business to the House.

Navy.

Colonel Wauton reports from the Council of State, a List of the Ships to be employed for the Winter Guard; viz.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth approve of the said List; and of the Persons named therein for Captains; and the Numbers of Men proportioned for each of the said Ships and Vessels.

Letters of Marque.

Colonel Wauton reports from the Council of State, an Act to authorize the Council of State to grant Letters of Marque or Reprisal in several Cases.

Which was read the First and Second time; and some Alterations made at the Table.

And the said Act, so amended, was, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be forthwith printed and published.

Admiralty Judge.

Colonel Wauton reports an Act for constituting a Judge of the Admiralty of the Cinque Ports, and settling a Salary to him.

Which was this Day read the First and Second time.

And the Question being put, That the said Bill be committed;

It passed with the Negative.

And the Question being put, That the said Bill do pass as a Law;

It passed with the Negative.

Letter read.

A Letter from Richard Deane and Robert Blague, of the Twentieth Day of June 1649, from before Kinsale, was this Day read.

Lord Lieut. of Ireland.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Revenue, to consider of the great Charges of the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, occasioned by reason of his Command in that Service; and what Allowance is fit to be made in respect of his said daily Charge, whilst he stays here; and report their Opinion to the House.

Deans and Chapters Lands.

An Additional Act for Encouragement of Purchasers of Deans and Chapters Lands, was this Day read the Third time.

And a Title was tendered to the said Act: Which was also this Day read; and, upon the Question, assented unto.

And the said Act, with the said Title, being put to the Question, passed.

And it is Ordered, That the said Act be forthwith printed and published.

Clement's Claims.

The humble Petition of Gregory Clement was this Day read.

Ordered, That Gregory Clement Esquire be admitted to come in as a Purchaser of Deans and Chapters Lands for the Sum of One thousand Pounds, with Interest, heretofore charged by Ordinance of Parliament, dated the Threeand-twentieth of August 1647, to be paid to Captain Plunkett, or his Assigns, out of the Receipt of the Grand Excise, in Course, with Interest, by way of Doubling; and to have the like Benefit that others that come in by way of Doubling by that Act, . . . .: And that the Trustees, Contractors, and Register Accomptant, and all other Persons appointed for Sale of Deans and Chapters Lands do admit him accordingly.

Scott's Claims.

Ordered, That Lovell Scott Gentleman, who, in the Behalf of himself, and others, of the Isle of Wight, did disburse Five hundred Pounds Fifteen Shillings and One Peny, for Provision of Victuals for the Town of Lyme in the County of Dorset, in the Time of the Siege of the said Town by Prince Maurice, and was ordered the Payment of the said Sum of Five hundred Pounds Fifteen Shillings and One Peny, by Order of the Twenty-fourth of July 1648, which was charged upon the Grand Excise, in Course, but no Ordinance was then brought in for that Purpose, be now admitted, in Behalf of himself, and others of the said Isle, to come in as Purchasers of Deans and Chapters Lands, for the said Money, upon doubling the said Money; and to have the like Benefit that others have, that come in by way of Doubling, by the Act for abolishing. Deans and Chapters Lands: And that the Trustees, Contractors, and Register Accomptant, and all other Persons appointed for Sale of Deans and Chapters Lands, do admit him accordingly.

Hill's Claims.

The humble Petition of William Hill, of London Merchant was this Day read.

Ordered, That the Sum of Six hundred and Two Pounds, mentioned in the said Petition, due for four hundred and Thirty Barrels of Herrings, delivered in to the Stores, at Dublin, be admitted as due to the said William Hill, upon the Publick Faith.

Ordered, That the said William Hill, and his Assigns, be admitted to come in as a Purchaser of Deans and Chapters Lands, by way of Doubling, for the said Six hundred and Two Pounds: And that he have the like Benefit that others that come in by way of Doubling, by the Act for abolishing Deans and Chapters, have, or may have: And that the Trustees, Contractors, and Register Accomptant, and all other Persons authorized to make Sale of Deans and Chapters Lands, do admit him as a Purchaser accordingly.
