Proceedings concerning Poyntz, &c.

ORDERED, That the Committee to whom the Business upon the Petition and Appeal of John Poyntz, alias Morris, is referred, be revived; and do sit de die in diem: And the said Committee are to meet this Afternoon.

Sheriffs.

Ordered, That the Gentlemen of this House that serve for the Counties of Cumberland and Westmorland, bring in the Names of fit Persons to be High Sheriffs for the said Counties.

Ordered, That Humphrey Chetam Esquire be, and is nominated and approved of to be, High Sheriff of Lancasheire, pro hac vice: And that the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal do issue forth a Commission, under the Great Seal of England, to him to be Sheriff accordingly.

South Wales Sequestrations.

An Act concerning the Sequestrations in South Wales was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto Mr. Herbert, Mr. Allen, Mr. Pury, Mr. Dove, Mr. Love, Mr. Jones, Colonel Moore; or any Three of them.

Resolved, &c. That Sir Hugh Owen be put into the said Act, as an excepted Person.

King's Children.

Ordered, That Sir Henry Mildmay make the Report touching the Allowances to the King's Children, Tomorrow Morning.

Vote vacated.

Ordered, That the Vote, entered, as passed Yesterday, in these Words; viz. "That This shall be the Engagement to which the Council of State shall sign:" be vacated.

Sittings of the House.

Resolved, &c. That this House do begin to fit on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays only, in every Week: And that the House be adjourned; and do not fit on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, in every Week: And that Mr. Speaker do take Notice hereof; and do adjourn the House accordingly, until the House take farther Order. And

It is further Ordered, That the several Committees of the Members, now sitting in this House, do, and be injoined to fit, notwithstanding the said Adjournment, upon the Days when the House is adjourned.

Committees.

Ordered, That the several Committees do, on Friday next, present to this House their Opinions, How Committees may be distributed, so as the Business of the Kingdom may go forward, for the best Advantage of the Commonwealth.

Indemnity.

Ordered, That Mr. Weaver do bring in an Ordinance impowering Justices of Peace, Commissioners in several Counties, to put in Execution the Ordinances of Indemnity in the several Counties, to ease the Parties therein concerned from the great Charge and Pains of repairing to London.

Embassy from Holland.

Ordered, That Sir Oliver Flemyng, Master of the Ceremonies, be required to give Attendance on the Lord Paw, Lord Ambassador Extraordinary from the States General of the United Provinces: And that he perform all usual Respects to him; and take care, that all necessary Provisions of Coaches, Barges, or otherwise, be made for the said Lord Ambassador, for his Conveyance to his Embarking: And that no Interruption be given to his Lordship, or any of his Retinue, in their Passage.

Ordered, That some Members do, from this House, and in their Name, repair to the Lord Paw, Lord Ambassador, to wish him a good and safe Voyage.

Colonel Harrison, Sir Henry Mildmay, Mr. Marten, Lieutenant General Cromwell, Sir Henry Vane, Sir Michael Livesey, Major-General Skippon, or any Four of them, are appointed to repair to the Lord Paw, Lord Ambassador from the States General of the United Provinces, accordingly.

Admiralty.

An Act for the Settling of the Power of the Admiralty of England and Ireland, was this Day read the Third time.

And a Title to the said Act, then tendered, was read the First, Second, and Third time; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

And the said Act, being put to the Question, passed.

Naval Martial Law.

An Act for granting Power to the Commissioners of the Navy to execute Martial Law at Sea, was this Day read; and, upon Question, committed to the Committee of the Navy.

Publick Accompts.

Ordered, That Colonel Harrison, Mr. Scott, and Colonel Jones, do prepare, and bring in, an Act for taking the general Accompts of the Kingdom.

Letter read.

Colonel Wauton reports from the Committee of the Navy, a Letter from Thomas Andrews, James Russell, and others, from the Navy Office, of 22 Februarii 1648: Which was this Day read.

Trinity House.

Ordered, That it be referred to Mr. Thomas Smyth, Colonel Deane, Captain Henry West, Captain Robert Dennis, Mr. Wm. Bundock, Mr. Samuel Moyer, Mr. Thomas Scott, Captain John Sayers, Mr. Maurice Thompson, together with such of the Elder Brethren of Trinity House, as do continue their Attendance and Action there, or any Three of them, to inquire into, and examine the Books, Writings, Debts, Accompts, and Records of the said House: and to receive into their Hands, and dispose of, all such Monies as shall be found in Cash, or to be due to the Stock of the said House, upon any former Accompt, both for the Relief of the Poor, and all other Intents and Purposes, as any Master or Elder Brethren heretofore formerly had, until the same shall be fully settled; and also to prepare, and present to the Committee for regulating of the said House and Officers, their Opinion, How the Officers thereof may be settled and managed for the Time to come: And, that they also examine, What Oath is taken by the Brethren and Members of the Trinity House.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Edward Keeling do officiate as Secretary to the Trinity House.

Pardon of Prisoners.

A Pardon, of Course, for Pardoning of Eight poor Prisoners, viz. Thomas Lawd, Robert Sourton alias Sutton, John Trickey, Thomas Townson alias Townsend, Ambrose Paunceford, Roger Noble, Samuel Hosegood, and David Jesse, was this Day read, and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

Ordered, That the Lords Commissioners of the Great Seal do pass it, under the Great Seal of England, accordingly.

A Pardon, of Course, for pardoning of Isabel Robins, Anne Crosse, John Carelesse, John Furnace, Jecose Eleorall, Peter Welden, Michael Olive, Alexander Coats, Anthony Bacon, Richard Evans, Thomas Billing, Wm. England, and Wm. Foster, was this Day read; and upon the Question, agreed unto: And

Ordered, That the Lords Commissioners of the Great Seal do pass it, under the Great Seal of England, accordingly.

Sir J. Gell.

Ordered, That Order be given to the Commissioners of the Great Seal, to put Sir John Gell out of all Commissions of Peace, and other Commissions.

Isle of Ely Judge.

Resolved, &c. That the Ordinance for making Mr. Waller Judge of the Isle of Ely be repealed: And

It is Ordered, That Colonel Wauton bring in an Ordinance to that Purpose, on Monday Morning next.

Mr. Rainborow.

Ordered, That Mr. Rainborow's Business be reported on Monday Morning next.

South Wales Sequestrations.

Mr. Herbert reports Amendments to the Act touching the Sequestrations of Delinquents in South Wales: Which were read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

And the said Act, so amended, being put to the Question, passed.
