Endorsed: Let it be enquired more fully concerning the seisin of Cecily, &c.
Writ (undated fragment).
NORTHAMPTON. Inq. 22 July, 22 Edw. I.
Buckebroc. The manor was the inheritance of Cecily de Ferariis, sometime his wife, whereof she was seised on the day she died; nevertheless the said Godfrey and Cecily, at the suit of John Bygot, by collusion came before the justices of the Bench and acknowledged the said manor to be the right of the said John Bygod, but the said Godfrey and Cecily both before and after were always in seisin as bailiffs. The manor was held of the earl of Ferars by reason of the honour of Chester by service of [2] knights’ fees, because it was sometime of Ranulph, earl of Chester.
John, son of Robert de Ferariis, kinsman of the said Cecily, is her (next) heir and of full age, and the jury do not know any reason why the king should not render the manor to him.
