PRAYERS.

Coffee, Tea, &c. additional Duties on, Bill.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for granting to His Majesty several additional Duties upon Coffee, Tea, Chocolate, and Spices, towards Satisfaction of the Debts due for the Transport Service for the Reduction of Ireland."

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Bridgewater reported, "That the Committee had gone through the said Bill; and think it fit to pass, without any Amendment."

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for granting to His Majesty several additional Duties upon Coffee, Tea, Chocolate, and Spices, towards Satisfaction of the Debts due for the Transport Service for the Reduction of Ireland."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Mutiny Bills

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for continuing Two former Acts, for punishing Officers and Soldiers, who shall mutiny, or desert His Majesty's Service, and for punishing false Musters, and for Payment of Quarters for One Year longer."

The House was resumed.

And the Earl of Bridgewater reported, "That the Committee had gone through the said Bill; and think it fit to pass, without any Amendment."

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Miles Cooke and Mr. Meredith:

To let them know, the Lords have agreed to the aforesaid Two Bills, without any Amendment.

Answer from thence, that Sir Tho. Cooke shall attend this House.

The Messengers sent Yesterday to the House of Commons return Answer; (videlicet,)

That the Commons have ordered, that Sir Thomas Cooke (in Custody of the Lieutenant of The Tower, by Order of their House) shall attend the House of Lords, as the Lords do desire; and that Mr. Speaker shall issue his Warrant accordingly.

And as to the other Part of the said Message, the House will send an Answer by Messengers of their own.

Message from thence, for a Conference about the Papers desired by the Lords.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Henry Hobart and others:

To desire a Conference with this House, upon the Subject-matter of the last Message.

Answer.

The Commons were called in again; and told, "That the Lords have considered their Message; and agree to a Conference, as desired; and appoint it presently, in the Painted Chamber."

The Lords following were appointed Reporters of this Conference:

The Commons being come to the Conference, the Managers Names were read; and, the House being adjourned during Pleasure, the Lords went to the Conference.

Which being ended, the House was resumed.

Papers concerning Sir T. Cooke delivered by the Commons at the Conference.

And the Duke of Bolton reported, "That the Lords had attended the Conference; and received the original Warrants, relating to the Seventy-seven Thousand Two Hundred Fifty-eight Pounds mentioned in the Bill; and that as to the Order or Warrant for the Ninety Thousand Pounds, it is not before their House; but was seen in the East India Company's Books by a Committee appointed by the House of Commons."

Several Persons attending this Day (pursuant to an Order of the Twelfth Instant), were sworn at the Bar, in order to be examined at the Committee, in relation to a Lease of Land lying behind Clarendon House.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and went to the Committee.

After some Time, the House was resumed.

Sir Tho. Cooke, to oblige him to accompt for Money received out of the Treasure of the E. I. Company, Bill:

Whereas Monday next is appointed for the House to be put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to oblige Sir Thomas Cooke to give an Accompt to whom he paid and distributed several Sums of Money, therein mentioned to be received out of the Treasure of the East India Company:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the House shall be put into a Committee; to proceed thereupon, on Tuesday the Sixteenth Day of this Instant April, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; and that all Persons summoned to attend on Monday next, do then also attend.

Order for him to attend.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Sir Thomas Cooke (a Member of the House of Commons, now Prisoner in His Majesty's Tower of London) do attend this House on Tuesday next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.

To the Right Honourable the Lord Lucas, Chief Governor of His Majesty's Tower of London, his Deputy and Deputies, and every of them.

Amyas versus Curtis.

Upon reading the Petition of Robert Curtis; praying he may be allowed further Time for answering the Appeal of Paul Amyas, depending in this House:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Robert Curtis shall and he is hereby required peremptorily to answer to the said Appeal, on or before Tuesday the Three and Twentieth Day of this Instant April, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.

Harrison and Phillips, City Auditors, to attend.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Mr. Harrison and Mr. Phillips, who audited the last Accompts of the City (as to the City Lands), do attend this House on Monday next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.
