The manor, held of the abbot of Glastonbury for 2½ knight's fees and by royal service, of the inheritance which was of Alfred de Lyncolnia who held of the king in chief by barony, whereof a third part descended to the said Robert and his heirs by succession; and Albreda de Lyncolnia one of the heirs of the said Alfred, to whom a third part of that barony descended, died without heir of herself, and the lands &c. of her part, except the manor of Langeton which she gave to one Ingram le Waleys, who holds it of the king in chief, descended to the said Robert and William de Gouyz and their heirs. Alfred de Lyncoln, held his barony by service of 2 knights in the king's army.

Endorsed:—On Tuesday the morrow of St. Matthias it was commanded to the sheriffs of Northampton and Huntingdon to execute this writ. And the same Robert died about fifteen days before Christmas.

Cotesmor. 8⅓ virgates land held of the king in chief, service unknown, for Sir Thomas de Clare sometime held the said tenements of the gift of Peter de Monte Forti for his ransom in time of war, and afterwards rendered the same to the king, who enfeoffed the said Robert thereof.

Cherleton Micegros. The manor (extent given), with the advowson of the church, including a wood called Stubwode, held of the manor of Camel, which Queen Eleanor, the king's consort, now holds of the inheritance of John de Burgo, by service of 1 knight's fee; 24a. land held of Maurice de Bonham rendering 2s. yearly; and 70a. land and 17a. wood held of William de Insula rendering 6d. yearly.

Kynmerton. The manor (extent given), held of the earl of Gloucester by service of 1 knight's fee; and the said Robert and Nicholas de Mutton his partner of the said town alternately present to the church, and the said Robert's heir ought to present first.
Botinton. The manor, held of divers lords, viz. of the earl of Gloucester by homage and suit at his court of Teukesburi, of the prior of Durhurste by homage, suit at his court of Durhurste, and 7s. 3d. yearly, of Nicholas le Archer for 9s. 6d. yearly, 1lb. pepper and 1lb. cummin of Walter Sturmy for 2s. 6d. yearly, and of Grimbald Pauncefot for 1lb. cummin.

Philippa, the wife of Roger de Lancaster, and Margery late the wife of Nicholas Corbet, are her next heirs, and of full age. The said Hugh begot four sons of the said Maud, who died before her death.

[Suffolk.] Inq. Thursday before St. Luke, 9 Edw. I.
Gyselingham. The manor, held of Robert de Burgate by service of ¼ knight's fee and 2d. rent. But the said Roger did not die in possession of the manor, for a year before his death he had demised it to William de Neketon, knight, and Giles his son, as a pledge for 100l. in which he was bound to them by indenture for the marriage of Sibyl his daughter to the said Giles, to be paid to them within three years, so that if he or his heirs should fail of full payment the manor should remain to the said William and Giles, but on payment made it should revert to the said Roger and his heirs.

Haconeby alias Haucumby. A capital messuage, &c. and in demesne, 30a. arable and 6a. meadow, and 5s. 6d. and a pair of gloves price 1d. rent of assize, held of the king in chief; the whole worth 38s. 3d., whereof Eva, late his wife, has a third part in dower by the king's command. Sum of dower 12s. 9d., and so there remains to the king 25s. 9d. (sic), and for the sustenance (potura) of the heir 5s. 9d., and so it ought to answer for 20s.

Northumberland. Inq. Monday the eve of St. John the Baptist, 9 Edw. I.
Bolum and Ayden. A moiety of the manors, held of the inheritance of Margery his wife of the king in chief by service of 1½ knight's fee.
Suth Middelton. A moiety of the manor, similarly held of Sir Roger de Lancastre and Philippa his wife and Margery late the wife of Nicholas Corbet, by service of 1½ knight's fee.
Cupun. Two messuages and 60a. land, similarly held of the heirs of Hugh de Morewyk by service of ½ knight's fee.
He held no lands, &c. in the county of his own inheritance.
Hugh his son, aged 24, is his heir.
Similar mandate reciting writ of 10 June 9 Edw. I. To suffer the said lands to be worked by the servants of the said Margery until the king's next parliament, taking security for the issues arising meanwhile, and her oath not to marry without the king's licence. Writ to Richard de Holebrok the king's steward, on the complaint of Andrew de Nevill that the sheriff of Lincoln had taken into the king's hand, a messuage and 12 bovates land in Helmeswell, which the said William held of him by knight's service, the custody of which ought to pertain to him according to the great charter of the liberties of England (quoted), 29 May, 9 Edw. I.

Writ of plenius certiorari to Richard de Holebrok, the king's steward, on the complaint of William de Ferrariis that the sheriff of Essex had taken into the king's hand the manors of Wodeham, Stubbyng and Feirstude which he had demised to the said Margaret, his mother, who had restored them to him long before her death, 15 April, 9 Edw. I.
Essex. Inq. Monday after the Invention of the Holy Cross, 9 Edw. I.
Wodeham, Stobyng and Fayrstede. The manors with a messuage in Cheche were given by Sir William de Ferrariis, sometime earl of Derbeye, to William de Ferrariis his son at Nottingham about the feast of St. Lucy, 36 Hen. III, by letter patent, to be held of him and his heirs by service of 5 knights' fees, saving to the said earl the homage and service of Sir Richard de Grey and his heirs in Thurrok ; and he had full seisin for four years and more during the life of his father, and the issues of the manors were collected by Robert de Duffeld his guardian (custodem) and placed in ward (custodiam) at Tyleteya, and in the fifth year they were rendered to the said William, and so he remained in peaceful seisin until he was made a knight and was of full age. Afterwards he granted these manors, &c. to Lady Margaret de Ferrariis his mother for her life for lands, &c. in Scotland and Gaweye of which she enfeoffed him, and into the aforesaid manors he had ingress sixteen days before his mother's death by her assent. The manor of Wodeham is worth 21l. yearly ; the manor of Stubbyng, with one carucate land in the same town afterwards purchased by the said William of Sir Nicholas de Stubbyng, knight, 52l.; the manor of Fayrstede 10l.; and the messuage in Cheche 6s.
