Scotch Affairs.

ORDERED, That a Committee be appointed for Scottish Affairs; viz. Lord Broghill, Mr. Secretary Thurloe, Earl of Tweddale, Colonel Howard, Lord Lambert, Major Saunders, Mr. Ch. George Cock, Sir Edward Rhodes, Mr. Downing, Major-General Lilborne, Major-General Kelsey, Mr. Hamden, Mr. Carey, Colonel Phil. Jones, Lord Commissioner Lisle, Major-General Whalley, Lord Commissioner Fienes, Sir Wm. Strickland, Mr. Bond, Mr. Sam. Ordered, That a Committee be appointed for Irish Affairs; viz. Renouncing Right of Car. II.

Mr. Speaker acquaints the House, That the Bill for Renouncing and Disannulling the pretended Title of Charles Stewart, is ingrossed.

Ordered, That the Members of that Committee, to whom that Bill was committed, be enjoined to meet this Afternoon; and to examine the Bill ingrossed, with the Paper Bill; and Amendments: And that this Bill be read on Friday Morning next.

Publick Fast.

The Lord Broghill reports, That the Committee appointed Yesterday did attend his Highness, with the Declaration for the Fast; that his Highness hath assented thereunto, save only that his Highness, in respect the Day appointed is the Day wherein the Lord Mayor of London, is to be sworn, his Highness moved, that the Day may be put off to Thursday the 30th of October; and doth assent to it, so amended.

Resolved, That the Day for the Solemn Fast for the Three Nations be on Thursday the 30th of October next: And that the Declaration be so amended at the Table.

And the Declaration was so amended accordingly.

Security of Protector's Person.

A Bill, intituled, An Act for the Security of his Highness the Lord Protector his Person, and Continuance of the Nation in Peace and Safety, was this Day read the First time; and ordered to be read the Second time, on Friday next.

Court of Wards.

Ordered, That a Bill be brought in for taking away the Court of Wards and Liveries, and Knight Service Tenures: And that Mr. Solicitor-General, Master of the Rolls, Lord Commissioner Whitelock, Mr. Young, and Mr. Barnard, be a Committee to prepare the Bill.

Orphans.

Ordered, That it be referred to the same Committee, to prepare another Bill for taking care of Orphans, and Preservation of their Estates and Descents: And Mr. Attorney-General, and the Lord Chief Justice Glyn, are added to that Committee.

Wardships in Ireland.

Ordered, That it be referred to the same Committee, to bring in a Bill for taking away Wardships and like Tenures in Ireland.

Wardships in Scotland.

Ordered, That it be referred to the same Committee to prepare a Bill for taking away Wardships and Tenures in Scotland: And that Mr. Swynton, Mr. George Smyth, Sir James Mackdowell, Major Aston, Colonel Jephson, Mr. Carey, Sir Alexander Wedderburne, Mr. Pedley, Earl of Tweddaile, be added to the said Committee.

Idiots, &c.

Ordered, That it be likewise referred to the same Committee, to bring in a Bill touching Care of Idiots and Lunaticks.

Ordered, That the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal be added to this Committee.

Probate of Wills.

Ordered, That a Bill be brought in for the Probate of Wills in the North, and in other Parts of England: And that it be referred to Mr. Wm. Lister, and Mr. Carey, to prepare the said Bill.

Publick Fast.

Ordered, That the Declaration for the Fast be forthwith printed and published.

Ordered, That a convenient Number of the said Declarations be printed, to be sent down unto all the Sheriffs of England; and likewise into Ireland and Scotland: And that it be referred to the Council to give Order for the sending abroad and dispersing the said Declarations.

Registers.

A Bill for settling Registers in every County, was this Day read the First time; and ordered to be read again, the Second time, on this Day Fortnight.

Private Petitions.

The Question being propounded, That no private Petitions be read in the House for One Month;

And the Question being put, That that Question be now put;

The House was divided.

The Noes went forth.

So it passed in the Affirmative.

And the main Question being put; It was

Resolved, That no private Petitions be read in the House for one Month.

Resolved, That no private Petition, to be directed to the Parliament, be printed before the same be read in the House.

The House adjourned itself to Thursday Morning, Eight of Clock.
