PRAYERS

High Constables of Durham

ORDERED, That the High Constables of the County Palatine of Durham shall be dispensed with, at this Time, from coming to Town, or giving any Attendance, at this Time: in regard of their Employments there, in producing the Warrants charged, in the Petition of George Lilborne,.. be produced to this House, under the Hands of those Persons that issued the same; and of the Receipts of the Monies received by them by virtue of the said Warrants; and to whom they paid the same.

Persons sent for.

Ordered, That Mr. Wm. Davenant, and Elias Wallen, be sent for, as Delinquents, by the Serjeant at Arms attending this House: And the Warrant, under Mr. Speaker's Hand, directed to the Serjeant, shall be a sufficient Discharge to the Officers, in whose Custody they are, for their Delivery.

Ordered, That the Mayors, Bailiffs, Sheriffs, Constables, and other Officers, be assistant unto him that carrieth these Warrants.

Clerk of the Market.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Bill of the Clerk of the Market do sit on Monday next at Two post meridiem, in the Exchequer-court.

Proceedings concerning Piercy.

Several Informations and Examinations, taken at Chichester, concerning Mr. Piercy, were this Day read: And thereupon SirThomas Barrington was appointed to go up to the Lords with this Message;

To desire a free Conference with their Lordships, concerning some Informations received touching Mr. Piercy.

Mr. Hampden and Mr. Hide are to manage this Conference.

Persons to be sent for.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker issue his Warrant, directed to the Mayor of Chichester, requiring him to send up to this House, in safe Custody, John Lambe and Robert Meryweather; to be examined upon such Matters as this House shall think fit.

Fens.

Whereas the Committee for the Fens should have sat this Afternoon; it is now Ordered, that it shall not sit till Monday next post meridiem at Two of Clock, in the usual Place: And that all People, who are any way concerned, as to their Attendance upon that Committee, are dispensed with, till that Time.

Privilege.

Ordered, That the Order, made in the Lords House, dated 6° April', concerning the Earl of Lindsey, and his Assigns, touching the Business of the Fens, be referred to the Committee for Privileges; to consider of at their first Sitting.

Queen Mother, &c.

Ordered, That the Committee concerning the Queen Mother, and the Tumults, do sit this Afternoon, at Two post meridiem, in the Inner Court of Wards.

New Business.

Ordered, That no new Business, nor new Petition, whatsoever, shall be entertained, nor entered into, neither by this House, nor any Committee, for a Month: And that the several Gentlemen, that sit in the several Chairs, shall, with all Expedition, prepare themselves to make Report of such Businesses as are already before them.

Committees added.

SirWm. Lewis, and Mr. John Lisle are added to the Committee of Seven, as to the Business of Portesmouth only.

Ecclesiastical Canons.

Ordered, That the Transmission of the Votes upon the New Canons be prepared by the Committee appointed for that Purpose, and brought in by Tuesday next.

Convocation.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Bill concerning the Convocation do meet on Monday at Two of Clock, in the Inner Star-chamber.

Bishop of Canterbury.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Bishop of Canterbury do meet on Monday, post meridiem at Two of Clock, in the Treasury-chamber.

Vintners.

Ordered, That the Committee for Vintners sit on Tuesday at Two post meridiem, in the Treasury-chamber.

Exporting Gold.

Ordered, That the Committee for Exportation of Gold do meet on Wednesday, post meridiem, in the Treasurychamber.

Papists Arrears.

And the Business concerning the Arrears of Papists is referred to that Committee.

Raising Money.

Resolved, upon the Question, That the Four hundred thousand Pounds shall be paid, by equal Portions, at Two several Payments.

Resolved, upon the Question, That the Two Days of Payment shall be, the Tenth of May next, and the Tenth of November come Twelve-months.

Conference.

A Message from the Lords, by J. Foster and Sir Ed. Leech;

The Lords desire a present free Conference, by a Committee of both Houses, presently in the Painted Chamber, if it may stand with the Conveniency of this House, about an Answer to the Conference that last was; and about other great and weighty Affairs of the Kingdom.

Answer returned, by the same Messengers;

This House has taken their Lordships Message into Consideration; and will give a present Meeting, as is desired.

Mr. Treasurer, Mr.Hollis, Mr. Hampden, Mr. Hide, Mr. Glynne, are appointed Reporters of this Conference.

Popish Recusants.

Moved, that such Lords as are Popish Recusants, and harbour such as are Recusants, and not their menial Servants, may be considered of.

That Wards that are under the Custody of Popish Recusants, and by Name, the young Lord Peters, under the Custody of the Lord Herbert, might be considered of.

SirHenry Mildmay was desired to move these Things, at the Committee for Recusants, he himself being of that Committee.

Conference reported.

Mr. Hampden reports the Conference, this Day had with the Lords, concerning Mr. Piercy; and concerning the weighty Affairs of the Kingdom; reported by the Earl of Bathe.

Mr. Hollis reports the Second Part of the Conference; reported by the Lord Duke of Lenox his Grace.

Mr. Treasurer reports the Third Part of the Conference; reported by the Earl of Holland.

Recusants.

The Certificates from the County of Middlesex are referred to the Committee, made Yesterday, concerning the Recusancy of Recusants convict.

Letter to Duke of Lenox.

Mr. Hollis had the Letter delivered him, written to the Duke of Lenox.

Money.

Alderman Penington acquaints the House, that Money comes in as fast as it can be told.

Treaty with Scotland.

Ordered, That the House meet on Monday at Seven of Clock; and that it be immediately turned into a Committee, to consider of the Treaty of both Kingdoms; and to being with that Article that concerns Uniformity in Church Government.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Knights and Burgesses of Yorkeshire, Northumberland, Cumberland, Westmorland, Barwicke, and Newcastle, to consider of the Accounts and Payments, how they stand between the Scotts and the Northern Counties; and of some Means to perfect them; and to present the State of them, and of the Damages sustained by those Counties, to the House.
