Mandate to collate and assign to Donatus Odyd (? rectius Oduyd), priest, of the diocese of Killala (who is of noble birth, and who when in his twenty-third year had himself, without any dispensation, promoted to the priesthood, and ministered therein before the lawful age, which he has now reached, and whom the pope hereby absolves from the said excess and from all sentences of excommunication etc. as far only as regards the taking effect of these presents) the deanery of Killala, a major elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 10 marks sterling which became and is still void, and also reserved, by ‘Execrabilis’ because Thomas Layyles (fn. 2), priest, who is to be summoned and removed, when holding the perpetual vicarage of Raframyg (fn. 3) in the said diocese, obtained the deanery, canonically collated to him, and held it together with the vicarage for more than three but less than four years, without dispensation; whether the deanery became void as stated, or be void by the deprivation and removal by papal authority of Mulerus Bared or of Thomas Bared, priests, of the said diocese, or in any other way. Mandate (the pope having been informed by Lewis Nugent, clerk, of the diocese of Meath, that John Wyht, priest, of the said diocese, simonically and as a result of previous unlawful bargains obtained the archdeaconry of Meath, and has dilapidated its goods) if and after Lewis (who was lately dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of unmarried parents, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, after which he had himself made a clerk) accuses John before the above prior, to summon John, and if he find the said simony true, to declare the collation and provision to him of the archdeaconry to have been null, or if not, but he find the said dilapidation true, to deprive and remove him, and in either event to collate and assign the archdeaconry, a major dignity, value not exceeding 300l. sterling (fn. 4), to Lewis, who is hereby specially dispensed to hold it. 11 Kal. Oct. (21 Sept.) S. Maria Maggiore, Rome. (f. 127d.)	To the bishop of Emly, the abbot of Holy Cross de Hutayrlaumana, and the prior de Haassel (rectius [At] haassel) in the diocese of Cashel. Mandate, as below. The treasurership of Limerick, a non-major dignity, became void, and therefore reserved to Eugenius IV, by the death at the apostolic see of Thomas Sepman [i.e. Chapman; see Cal. Papal Lett. IX, pp. 498 and 619], and, not having been disposed of by the said pope before his death, remains void and reserved to the present pope, ‘although John Pieg and John Kyurnogh, priests, of the dioceses of Limerick and Lincoln (Lincolnien), each of them, have unduly detained possession for more than two years without any right, usurping the fruits etc. to the best of their power. The pope therefore orders the above three to grant it in commendam for life to Cornelius, bishop of Clonfert (who, from fear of the power and inordinate favours of the said John Pieg and John Kyurnogh, has no hope of obtaining justice in the city and diocese of Limerick), even if it be elective and have cure, value not exceeding 60 marks sterling; whether it be void as above, or by the death of John Scurloch alias Kyurnoch, priest, or in any other way; summoning and removing the said two priests, Personam venerabilis fratris. Mandate to collate and assign to John Olaegere, rector of Kilmuga (also written ‘Kilmiga’) in the diocese of Cork (who was lately dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure) the chancellorship of Ross, a non-major non-elective dignity (fn. 5), value not exceeding 1½ marks sterling, void by the resignation of Richard Ydonnowayn to the late Thomas Mechuyrleyn, canon of Ross, vicar-general in spirituals of the late Cornelius, bishop of Ross; whether it be void as stated, or because the said Richard did not have himself promoted to holy orders, or in any other way; and notwithstanding that he holds the said rectory, without cure and value not exceeding 5 marks sterling, and the said defect, on account of which he is hereby dispensed to hold the chancellorship. Mandate to and assign the deanery of Lismore, a major dignity with cure, even if it be elective, value not exceeding 18 marks sterling, to which are annexed a canonry and prebend of that church (void because Philip Wyot has obtained, collated by authority of the ordinary, another canonry and prebend of the same church, and reserved under the pope's late reservation of all major cathedral dignities, void and to be void) to Richard Purcell', clerk, of the diocese of Limerick, who formerly, as the pope has this day learned, after having been dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of unmarried parents, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefices even with cure, obtained, without having got other dispensation on account of the said defect, a canonry of Limerick and the prebend of Arcdcathneh, and a canonry of Cloyne (Clonen.) and the prebend of Coyleyneh (fn. 6), on their voidance by the death of Nicholas Wyt and Philip Yhaly respectively, and was still (fn. 7) detaining them, and whom the pope has by other letters rehabilitated, requiring him to resign the said canonries and prebends; notwithstanding that the pope has this day granted provision to be made to him of the said canonries and prebends of Limerick and Cloyne, value not exceeding 8 and 4 marks sterling respectively, and has dispensed him to receive and hold them. Collation and provision to him (whom the pope hereby absolves from all sentence of excommunication etc., in regard only to the taking effect of these presents) of the deanery of Limerick, a major elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 44 marks sterling, void and reserved (under the pope's late reservation of all major cathedral dignities, void and to be void) by the promotion made by Eugenius IV of Robert [now] bishop of Lismore and Waterford, and by his consecration, which was administered by order of the said pope, but after his death and the present pope's accession; whether it be so void, or by the death of Adam Oweyn, or by the resignation of Simon Cantwel, or because formerly John Stale (rectius Stak), when holding the deanery, to which another prebend is annexed, obtained, canonically collated to him, another canonry and prebend of the same church of Limerick, or be void in any other way, and notwithstanding that he holds a canonry of Cork and the prebend of Kylynly and a canonry of Cloyne (Clonen.) with the prebend of Kalcridan and Infuk, value together not exceeding 4 marks sterling. Mandate (the pope having been informed by Dermit Oheagra, canon of Achonry, that Donald Machdonchayd, provost of Achonry, has dilapidated the goods of the provostship, and is a notorious fornicator and ignorant of letters) if and after Dermit (who was lately dispensed by authority of the ordinary, on account of illegitimacy, as the son of a bishop (de antistite) and an unmarried woman related in the fourth and third degrees of kindred and in the double third and in the fourth and third degrees of affinity, to be promoted to minor orders and hold a benefice without cure) accuses Donald before the above three etc., to summon Donald, and if they find the above or enough thereof to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign the provostship, a non-major non-elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 8 marks sterling, to Dermit; notwithstanding that he holds a canonry of the same church and the perpetual benefice called the prebend of Tuaimfaubarmorach and Drumrayt, value not exceeding 1 mark sterling.
