1448[–9]. 3 Id. Jan. (11. Jan.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 55d.)	To William Forman, perpetual vicar of Abyrkeledy (sic) in the diocese of Dunkeld, bachelor of canon law. Dispensation to him (who is a priest and of noble birth, and holds inter alia the above vicarage of Abyrlady, and whose benefices and their values and that of the said vicarage the pope hold as being expressed by these presents) at the petition of James, king of Scots, and his own, to receive and hold for life together with the said vicarage one benefice, or otherwise any two benefices, with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if dignities etc. and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases, provided that he do not hold two parish churches or perpetual vicarages; notwithstanding the pope's late ordinance against holding two major or principal dignities [see above, p. 5] etc. Nobilitas generis, litterarum etc. (O. and G. de Elten. \| O. xxxx. pontanus.) 1448. 7 Id. Oct. (9 Oct.) S. Pudenziana's, Rome. (f. 72d.)	To George Schorisuode (fn. 2), rector of Culte(r) in the diocese of Glasgow, bachelor of canon law. Dispensation to him, who is of noble birth and holds the above church of Culte(r), value not exceeding 20l. sterling, at the petition of William earl of Douglas, whose secretary he is, and his own, to hold for life with the said church one benefice, or if he resign that church any two benefices, with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if parish churches or perpetual vicarages or dignities etc. and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases; notwithstanding the pope's late ordinance to the contrary [see above, p. 5] etc. Nobilitas generis, litterarum etc. (P. and p. 1449. 3 Non. Dec. (3 Dec.) St. Peter's Rome. (f. 144d.)	To Thomas Macbryssym. Collation and provision to him who is a priest, of the perpetual vicarage of Kylcoryn alias Corcamoga (also written ‘Carcamoga’) in the diocese of Tuam, value not exceeding 5 marks sterling, void and therefore ispo facto reserved by the death at Viterbo, not more than two legal day's journey from Rome, where the Roman court then was, of Gilacius Omolayn on his way to the said court; notwithstanding that he holds the rectory of Kyllenandyn Muntherachy [value not stated], and that the pope recently granted provision to be made to him of the perpetual vicarage of Achasgrach, which was then about to become void, its value not exceeding 8 marks sterling, in the dioceses of Tuam and Elphin. Upon obtaining the vicarage of Kylcoryn he is to resign the said rectory and the said vicarage of Ac[h]asgrach, if he meanwhile obtain it, or give up the said grant and all right in or to the vicarage of Achasgrach. Vite etc.

1448. 14 Kal. July. (18 June.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 226.)	To the official of Ross [in Scotland]. Mandate, as below. The recent petition of Thomas [no surname], priest, of the place of Dyngwel in the diocese of Ross, contained that he was dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure; that, after having been so promoted, he obtained, canonically collated to him, the perpetual vicarage of the said place; that he was dispensed by the said authority to hold the chapel of St. Laurence in the same place (provision of which was ordered to be made to him by the said authority) and any other benefices, of any number and kind, with and without cure, compatible with one another and with the aforesaid [vicarage and chapel], even if canonries and prebends, dignities etc. and to resign them and the said vicarage and chapel, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleased; and that thereafter, on the voidance of a canonry and prebend and the treasurership of Caithness by the resignation of David Stewart to the late John Innes [bishop] elect confirmed of Caithness, the said elect made him collation and provision thereof by his ordinary authority, in virtue of which he obtained and still holds possession, but now doubts whether they hold good. The pope therefore orders the above official to collate and assign to Thomas (whose benefices, held or expected, and their values and his dispensations the pope holds to be sufficiently expressed by these presents) the said canonry and prebend and treasurership, a non-major non-elective dignity with cure, their value not exceeding 15l. sterling; whether they be void as above, or by the resignation of the late Patrick Wardelaw, or in any other way.
