Dispensation to hold for life with the said archdeaconry, value not exceeding 300 marks sterling (which he obtained after being dispensed by papal authority to hold two benefices with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if two parish churches or their perpetual vicarages), and with any other benefice with cure or otherwise incompatible which he now holds with the said archdeaconry (even if it be a parish church or a perpetual vicarage or a dignity etc.), any other benefice, or, without them or one of them, any three benefices, with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if they be dignities etc. or two of them be parish churches or their perpetual vicarages, etc., and to resign all, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases, and hold instead three other incompatible benefices, even if two of them be parish churches or their perpetual vicarages, or the three be major or principal dignities, with cure and elective, etc.; provided that he do not hold more than two parish churches or their perpetual vicarages. Exemplification, which shall have the force of the original, from the register of Eugenius IV of that pope's letters Litterarum sciencia, vite etc., addressed to Richard Roderham, chancellor of Hereford, S.T.M., and dated at St. Peter's, Rome, 1446, 4 Id. Oct., anno 16, dispensing him to hold for life any two benefices with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if parish churches or perpetual vicarages or dignities etc., and the said chancellorship, which is a non-major dignity, even if it were elective and had cure, and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleased, and hold instead for life three other incompatible benefices, provided that not more than two of them were parish churches or perpetual vicarages or major or principal dignities. Requesting safe conduct, going and returning, for Roger, lord of Comays, brother of the earl of Northumberland, who is going from the pope to divers parts, and for his retinue to the number of fifteen; to be valid for a year only. The pope has recently learned that although Vincent Clementis, canon of Valencia (Valentin.), S.T.M., a subdeacon of the pope, holds a canonry and prebend and also the provostship in the church of Valencia, he seems to wish to obtain, by a papal grant, as he alleges, a dignity in the said church. At the petition, therefore, of Alfonso, cardinal priest of SS. Quatuor Coronati and bishop of Valencia, and of the chapter of Valencia, the pope hereby annuls all letters granted to Vincent in regard to such dignity. Ad fut.rei mem. Ea que Romani pontificis. (f. 227d.)		 To Richard Clepham, priest, of the diocese of St. Andrews, bachelor of canon law. Grant, as below. Eugenius IV (upon its being set forth to him by the above Richard that he had formerly been dispensed, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure) dispensed him to hold any other benefices, of any number and kind, with or without cure, compatible with one another and with the said benefice, even if canonries and prebends etc., and to resign all, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleased. Seeing that, as his recent petition contained, he doubts whether he can give proof of the first dispensation, the pope hereby grants that he need not do so, and that he need not, in future grants from the apostolic see or otherwise, mention his said defect.Litterarum etc. (G. Tom. xxiv.’ Inside the cover is the front half of the original sheepskin binding, with the contemporary description ‘Liber iiius bullarum de curia domini Nicolai pape quinti,’ and other more or less contemporary notes. A flylear which follows has, in a contemporary hand: ‘Liber tercius bullarum de curia inceptus Rome de anno domini millesimo quadringentesimo quadragesimo octavo, indictione undecimo, die vero vicesimaprima mensis Novembris pontificatus etc. anno secundo,' under which, in the hand of Giovanni Bissaiga, is ‘Liber iii.
