The maps were drawn by K. J. Wass from drafts prepared by Ann Hudson and Monica Maloney. That of Arundel, c. 1785, is based on contemporary maps chiefly at Arundel castle by kind permission of His Grace the Duke of Norfolk; that of Barnham, c. 1762, on W.S.R.O., Goodwood MS. E4996 by courtesy of the Directors of the Goodwood Estate Co. Ltd.; and that of Middleton, 1606, on W.S.R.O., Add. MS. 2027, f. 31, by permission of the West Sussex County Council. The others are based on Ordnance Survey Maps 6" and 1/2,500 (1879 and later edns.); for information since 1912 Ordnance Survey material was used, Crown Copyright reserved.
