London Hearth Tax

The hearth tax, also known as hearth money, chimney tax or chimney money, was a tax imposed by Parliament in 1662. The returns of the Hearth Tax assessment as collected by the AHRC London Hearth Tax Project (2007-10) cover the City of London (1662), Westminster (1664) and the City of London and Middlesex (1666).
