Little Smeaton, &c. Enclosure Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Smith and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for dividing and enclosing the several Open Fields, Stinted Pasture, Ings, Commons, Waste Lands, and Grounds, in the Townships of Little Smeaton and Stubbs Walden, in the Parish of Womersley in the West Riding of the County of York;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Llandilo Roads Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir William Mansell and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for continuing the Term and altering the Powers of an Act of the Fifth Year of His present Majesty, for repairing, widening, and keeping in Repair several Roads leading from Kidwelly in the County of Carmarthen, and also several Roads leading from Llandilo, in the said County, so far as relates to the Llandilo District of the said Roads, and for amending and keeping in Repair several other Roads in the said County;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Stourbridge Canal Bill.

The Order of the Day being read for the further Consideration of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for making and maintaining a Navigable Canal from the Stourbridge Canal Navigation to the River Severn near to the City of Worcester, and for varying certain Rates or Dues granted to the Company of Proprietors of the Stourbridge Canal Navigation; and for removing Shoals in the River Severn between the Cities of Worcester and Gloucester; and for other Purposes therein mentioned;" and for hearing Counsel for and against the same:

Counsel were accordingly called in.

And John Snape Land Surveyor, William Sorrel, John Rennington, William Connard, John Bedford, Harry Court, Daniel Mathew, Thomas Jackson, and Joseph Nichols Engineer, were severally called in, sworn, and examined for the Petitioners in Support of the said Bill.

The Counsel were directed to withdraw.

Ordered, That the further Consideration of the said Bill be put off till To-morrow; and that the Counsel be called in at Half past Two o'Clock.

"An Account of Money received and paid by the Chamberlain of the City of London on account of re-building the Gaol of Newgate in the City of London, from the 26th January 1785 to the 1st Day of July 1785."

"An Account of Money received and paid by the Chamberlain of the City of London, in pursuance of an Act for making a Street from Moorfields to Bishopsgate Street, &c. from the 29th Day of September 1784 exclusive, to the 29th Day of September 1785 inclusive."

"An Account of Money received and paid by the Chamberlain of the City of London, in pursuance of an Act for enabling the Lord Mayor, Aldermen, and Commons of the said City, to purchase the present Tolls and Duties payable for navigating upon the River Thames, and other Purposes therein mentioned, from the 29th Day of September 1784 exclusive, to the 29th Day of September 1785 inclusive."

"An Account of Money received and paid by the Chamberlain of the City of London, in pursuance of an Act for making, enlarging, amending, and cleansing the Vaults, Drains, and Sewers, within the said City and Liberties thereof, and for paving, cleansing, and enlightening the Streets, Lanes, &c. within the said City and Liberty aforesaid, from the 29th Day of September 1784 exclusive, to the 29th Day of September 1785 inclusive."

And then he withdrew.

And the Titles thereof being read by the Clerk:

Ordered, That the said Accounts do lie on the Table.

Newcastle Streets Bill.

The Lord Scarsdale reported from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for widening, enlarging, and cleansing the Streets, Lanes, and other public Places, and for opening new Streets, Markets, and Passages, within the Town of Newcastleupon-Tyne and the Liberties thereof, and for removing and preventing Annoyances therein, and for regulating the Public Markets and common Stage Waggons, Drays, and Carts carrying Goods for Hire," was committed: " That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Shipton's Bill.

The Lord Scarsdale also reported from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for vesting the Estate late of John Shipton Esquire, deceased, in the County of Warwick, in Trustees to be sold and disposed of for the Payment of his Debts and certain of the Legacies given by his Will and Codicil, and for laying out the Residue of the Money arising by such Sale in the Purchase of other Estates to be settled to the Uses and for the Purposes therein mentioned," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; that the Parties concerned had given their Consents to the Satisfaction of the Committee; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Ordered, That the said Bill be engrossed.

Raveley Enclosure Bill.

The Lord Scarsdale made the like Report from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for dividing, enclosing, and exchanging the Open Fields and other Lands and Grounds within the Parish of Raveley in the County of Huntingdon," was committed.

Sinnington, &c. Enclosure Bill.

The Lord Hawke made the like Report from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for dividing and enclosing the several Common Pastures, Commons, or Waste Grounds within the Parishes of Sinnington with Marton and Edstone in the North Riding of the County of York," was committed.

Causes put off.

Ordered, That the Hearing of the Cause, wherein Messieurs Caddells and Sons, Merchants in Cockenzie, are Appellants, and Margaret Cadell and others are Respondents, which stands appointed for Monday next, be put off to Wednesday next; and that the Cause which stands appointed for Wednesday next be put off to Friday next; and that the Cause which stands appointed for Friday next be put off to the Monday following.

Upon reading the Petition of the Heritors and Proprietors of one of the Eight Southern Districts known by the Name of the Laurieston District, whose Names are thereunto subscribed, taking Notice of a Bill depending in this House, intituled, "An Act for widening several Streets in the City of Edinburgh; for opening a Communication from Queen Street to Broughton Loan; for enlarging the Burial Ground; and for extending the Royalty of the said City over Part of the Lands of Broughton;" and praying their Lordships, "That the said Bill, in so far as it empowers the Trustees to levy any Part of the Ten per Cent. from the Petitioners, and thereby impose a Burden upon them to which, in Justice they cannot be subjected without their Consent, and from which they are especially exempted by the Act of the 25th of His present Majesty, may not pass into a Law:"

Upon reading the Petition of John Corbet of Tolcross Esquire, Respondent in a Cause depending in this House, to which John Colquhoun Tenant in Gartcosh, a Pauper, is Appellant, which stands appointed for Hearing; setting forth, "That in the last Session of Parliament, the Appellant brought an Appeal to their Lordships on one Branch of the Cause which was dismissed, and he has now brought the present Appeal, which consists of an Action and Declarator and Five Suspensions: That the Appellant not only harasses the Petitioner with three Suits, brought from a Spirit of Resentment, but has on his pretended Claims set up in his said Action, arrested all the Rents of the Petitioner's Estate: That the Petitioner in hopes that his Cause would be heard this Session, has brought his Counsel from Scotland at a great Expence to attend the Hearing, which will be lost if the Cause is not heard this Session: That the Cases are on their Lordships' Table, and both Sides are prepared for the Hearing: That this Cause would have come to a Hearing in Preference to the two Causes appointed to be heard, had it stood in Course, but their Lordships appointing these Causes to be heard on ByeDays hath got the Preference of the Petitioner's Cause;" and therefore praying their Lordships, That this Cause may be heard on Wednesday next, or any other early Day as to their Lordships shall seem meet, the Counsel for the said Appellant having signed the said Petition, as consenting thereto:"
