The manor (extent given) jointly held by the said Thomas with Lucy his wife, by the enfeoffment of Simon de Diveleston, father of the said Thomas, of the king in chief by service of ⅓ knight's service, so that the said Lucy ought to hold the manor for life by the said service, rendering to the heirs of the said Simon after the death of the said Thomas, 1 mark yearly as acknowledgement (nomine recognicionis).

The manor (extent given) held by the said Thomas of Sir Robert de Sutevill and Eleanor his wife by service of 6d. yearly, and rendering 1 mark yearly to Sir Hugh de Euer for suit of the mill of Crekkelawe, 2s. for repair of the pond of the mill of Ponteland, 15d. for cornage, 11s. 1d. to Lady Yda, late the wife of Robert de Nevill for life, and 4s. to the nuns of Newcastle-upon-Tyne; and he had 7½d. rent from the abbot of Newminster (novi monasterii) for a messuage and 1 carucate land.

Petition from William Tyndale, next heir of the said Thomas, praying for a better inquisition, for in the manor of Diveleston the said Thomas purchased to himself and his heirs 200a. wood and a messuage and 19a. land, of which the inquisition made makes no mention; in Heggeleye he alone purchased the 13l. land to him and his heirs by good charter, and after 2½ years purchased a charter to himself and his wife, without changing any estate; and of Sir Walter de Huntercombe he purchased 10l. land and more to him and his heirs, whereof the lady retains the charter, and of which the inquisition makes no mention.
And as for the manor of Dyveleston he prays that seisin may not be rendered to the said Lucy, for Simon de Dyveleston, his uncle, held that manor in chief of the king by homage and ⅓ knight's fee, and gave it to Thomas his son and heir in marriage with Lucy his wife, without the king's consent, without that the said Thomas in the life of his father did homage or service to the king, but he did so after his father's death as his son and heir. For those who hold in chief cannot alienate their lands without the king's leave, as the said Simon did, for thus the king would lose wardships and marriages of those lands. (French, undated.)
Writ de plenius inquirendo upon certain allegations made by William de Tyndal, kinsman and heir of the said Thomas, against the inquisitions made concerning lands of which the abovesaid Lucy asserts that she was jointly enfeoffed with the said Thomas, 20 June, 18 Edw. I.

Dyvilston. The manor (extent given) was jointly held as abovesaid. And after the death of the said Lucy it shall revert to the heir of the said Thomas
Corbrig. The said Thomas and Lucy had common in the wood of Corbrig' on either side of the water of Dyvils', for taking all manner of estovers by the view of the foresters of the lord of Corbrig'; and for remitting the said estovers in the woods on the east of Dyvils, the lord of Corbrig' gave the said Thomas about 100a. in the wood of Corbrig' called Dunstanwod', to be held to himself and his heirs, for his estovers in the other woods, but whether the soil belongs to the lord of Corbrig' or to the said Thomas, is unknown to the jury, for the men of Corbrig' and Dyvilston have the herbage in common. The said Thomas did homage to the king after the death of his father.
Sir Walter de Hontregom' pledged to the said Thomas 10 librates of land between the waters of Tyne and Derewent in the barony of Bolbek, for 80l. and 10 marks to be paid at Michaelmas 1291, and unless he should do this, the said Thomas and Lucy ought to be enfeoffed to them and their heirs; and the said Thomas in his will bequeathed to Lucy his wife the said land, or the money if paid at the said term.
Hygeley. The manor was held by the said Thomas for seven years of Walter de Edlyncham, and afterwards he resigned the term after three years had elapsed, and the said Walter enfeoffed the said Thomas and Lucy jointly of the manor to them and their heirs or assigns. There was no other charter of the manor made to the said Thomas and his heirs.

And Nicholas de Warwick who sues for the king, says that the king in council was given to understand when the writs were drawn up that Richard's Castle, of which he says the manor of Ippesle is held, was in Salop; but because now it is found that that castle is in co. The said lands, &c. were sometime of William de Escheby, who, when he committed felony, held the same of Sir Richard Curzoun; by reason of which felony King Henry seized the said lands, &c. and had year and waste according to the custom of the realm, during which year the said John de Kirkeby entered upon the same, for what reason is unknown. Sir Richard Curzoun, who had a third part of the manor of Craneford at that time, granted the same to Thomas his son, who purchased to himself all the lands, &c. which Sir Thomas Estle had there, and died seised thereof. The lands which William de Escheby held ought to be escheat, as it seems to the jury, to John son and heir of the said Thomas Curzoun, because the said Richard and Thomas de Estle granted to the said Thomas Curzoun whatever could fall to them of the said manor in wardships, reliefs, escheats, &c.
