To Richard Lessi, clerk, of the diocese of York. Absolution, at the petition of Edward, king of England (who alleges that he is a counsellor of Cecily, duchess of York, the king's mother), and at his own petition, with dispensation to be promoted to the priesthood, and to minister therein and in his other orders, even in the ministry of the altar, notwithstanding bigamy and irregularity contracted by marrying a certain woman and obtaining a divorce from her upon learning that she had another husband, and by having himself, without any dispensation on account of the bigamy thus contracted, promoted to the orders of subdeacon and deacon, and by ministering therein, although in ignorance and not in contempt of the Keys, thereby contracting irregularity. To Elizabeth, abbess of the monastery of St. Mary the Virgin and St. Ethelfleda, Ramsey, O.S.B., in the diocese of Winchester. Indult to her (who has recently allowed herself to be carnally known, whereby she fears that she is pregnant, (fn. 4) and who is of a race of barons) that the confessor of her choice may, once only, absolve her from the said lapse of the flesh and crime of incontinence and from any sentence of excommunication incurred, etc., enjoin penance, and rehabilitate her; with inhibition to the bishop of Winchester and any other judges to proceed against her after such absolution etc., and grant that she may give corrodies under the seal of the convent, like other abbesses.
