To the archdeacon of Ardfert, and John Offyn and Dermit Ossulluac, (fn. 1) canons of the same. Mandate to collate and assign to Maurice Machonarric (?), clerk, of the diocese of Ardfert (who was lately dispensed by papal authority on account of illegitimacy, as the son of unmarried parents, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, after which he was promoted to all minor orders only) the perpetual vicarage of Uhagual in the said diocese, value 7 marks sterling, so long void that its collation has lapsed to the apostolic see; although David Orrredyi (?), priest, of the said diocese, who is to be summoned and removed, has without any title detained possession for between one and two years. Appropriation in perpetuity to the archiepiscopal mensa of St. Andrews, at the petition of archbishop William, of the canonry of the church of St. Salvator at St. Andrews and the prebend of Leswad therein, value 40l. sterling, which are about to become void by the pope's recent promotion of Robert, [bishop] elect of Aberdeen, to that church, and by the consecration which is to be conferred on him; John Frasel, priest, of the diocese of St. Andrews, to whom on Prid. Id. July anno 9 (14 July 1480) the pope granted provision of the said canonry and prebend, then too about to become void as above, having this day resigned the said grant to the pope before the drawing up of the letters thereof. Ad perp. rei mem. Ex iniuncto nobis. (In the margin: Decembris.) [22/3 pp. Theiner's red pencil cross is in the margin, but he has not included the letter in his Monumenta.]
