Same to the Navy Commissioners. My Lords have
considered your letters of the 5th inst. They
direct that you reserve the tallies and orders for
20,000l. on the two thirds of the Additional Excise
which were intended by my Lords for Mr. Barrett
or such other [Navy] services for the year 1691
as they should appoint ; and that you proceed in
your assignments of the bills of that year in course
out of the residue of the tallies on the said fund
in the hands of the Treasurer of the Navy
according to my Lords' late direction in that
behalf.
They are further pleased to allow to Mr. Barrett
10,000l., as his payments become due, out of the
first of those reserved tallies and also to allow him
8 per cent., besides the interest already grown due
upon them, as his Majesty's gratuity to enable
him to issue money upon those tallies and orders
for the speedy despatch of the ships he is in hand
withal. You are to sign a [Navy] bill payable to
the Treasurer of the Navy or to the said Mr. Barrett
for so much as the said interest shall amount to,
for the said Treasurer's discharge in his account.

annuity of 1,000l. for life as one of the Gentlemen
of the Bedchamber ; and by patent of 1674, Dec. 23,
another annuity of 1,000l. to him for life. Please
send my Lords an account of these annuities. |

Your Receiver General has represented to us that
by reason of some difference between you in relation
to the proportion payable by the parts of Lindsey,
"which is half your county," he is likely to meet
with great obstructions in his receipt, several
warrants contradictory to each other having been
issued. We earnestly recommend that either by
appointing another General Meeting or in some
other way agreeable to the Act of Parliament you
will settle the matter in difference, so that the
moneys may be speedily assessed. |
