Ibid.

Same to the Earl of Ranelagh to report on the petition

Ibid, p. 82.
|
Treasury warrant to the Surveyor General of Crown
Lands for a particular and ratal of two tenements
in the manor of Bradford, parcel of the Duchy of
Cornwall, with a view to a lease thereof to Michael
Langdon.
Prefixing : report by W. Harbord on said Langdon's
petition, ut supra, pp. 184, 198, for same. The first
tenement is fallen in hand by the death of Leonard
Cornew. It was valued in 1660 by Sir Richard
Prideaux at 19l. per an., but his surveys are generally
esteemed high. It is at present let at 15l. per an.
The second tenement is held for the life of Robert
Frayne under a lease dated 1662. I advise a fine of
150l. on the first tenement and 80l. on the second. |
Warrants not Relating to
Money XIII, pp. 70-1.
|
Same to same for a same of a small tenement or
cottage in Cerne Abbas, co Dorset, in order to a
lease thereof to William Fosse.
Prefixing : report as above on said Fosse's petition,
supra, p. 190. The premises were leased 1559,
July 1, to John Strickland, Hugh Strickland and
Julyan Abridge, being a tenement then newly
erected, and a piece of ground 24 feet by 20 feet
situate near the Shambles in the market place at
Cerne, and was formerly part of the monastery there.
There was an alleged lease from James I to John
Eldred and William Whitmore for 50 years in
reversion of said Abridge, who died 1639, April 28 :
so the premises came into the Crown's hands on
April 28 last. The said Fosse, a butcher, alleges
long possession, but sets out no title. The value
of the premises is small, the fine on the last lease
being only 5l. 4s. 0d. |
Ibid, pp. 72-3.
|
Same to same for a same of a small tenement and
mill in the manor of Treverbyn Courtney, the
tenement lying in the village of Resuggo : with a
view to a lease thereof to William Cock.
Prefixing : report as above on said Cock's petition,
ut supra, p. 184. The premises were granted to
John Trelawney 1661, Nov. 23. The rent has been
answered in the name of Charles Trevanion and
John Bovett to Michaelmas last. In Nov., 1684,
the said Trevanion petitioned to buy off the increased
rent, but did not proceed in it because Bovett and
he could not agree to surrender. The petitioner
Cock married said Bovett's daughter, whose ancestors
have been ancient tenants of the premises. I advise
a fine of 55l. |
Ibid, pp. 73-4.

William Jephson to the Auditor of the Receipt. The
Treasury Lords are informed that great sums of
the taxes are brought into the Exchequer and
instead of being forthwith told and charged by
the Tellers throwing down bills for same the moneys
remain in the Tellers' offices some considerable
time in the nature of deposits only. My Lords
consider that the taking of the King's money by
way of deposit is a damage to the King because
his Majesty pays 7 per cent for those sums while
they remain in that nature. You are to order
the Tellers to forthwith, and with all possible
expedition, tell and charge any money as soon as
it comes in : and also that the Tellers attend not
only in the afternoons, but more early in the forenoons
for that purpose. |

lacewoman ; the greatest part of said goods having been
in said Mris. Bampton's possession ever since the

and did not import any part thereof. |
