1429. 9 Kal. Sept. Ferentino. (f. 50.)	To the prior of St. Mary's, Killeydh, in the diocese of Kildare, the dean of Limerick, and Nicholas Ohywelayn, canon of Kildare. Mandate to collate and assign to John Maglachlaynd, clerk, of the diocese of Kildare, who lately received papal dispensation, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, the canonry of Kildare and prebend of Villa Hanrici therein, void by the death of Richard Wyt, and the perpetual vicarage of Lea (de Lega) in the said diocese, void by the death of Thomas Maccostelba (sic) alias Nongal, value not exceeding 3 and 7 marks respectively, both of them void so long that the collation of them, which are of the patronage of laymen, has lapsed to the apostolic see. He is hereby dispensed to receive and hold the said canonry and prebend, and to resign them and the said vicarage, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases, and hold instead two similar or dissimilar compatible benefices, notwithstanding his said defect etc. (Ri. xxx. 2 Kal. Nov. SS. Apostoli, Rome. (f. 76d.)	To Master John de Mella, papal chaplain and auditor. Mandate as below. Lately, on learning that the canonry and prebend of Glemethan in Dublin had become and were void by the resignation of the late Thomas Rosell', an abbreviator of apostolic letters, made to the archbishop of Dublin, the pope granted provision thereof to William Haddesors, rector of Derver in the diocese of Armagh, I.U.B. Subsequently, as William's recent petition contained, a cause arose between him and Walter Hill, priest, of the said diocese [of Armagh], who prevented the pope's said grant from taking effect, himself taking possession, and the pope committed the cause, although not lawfully devolved to the Roman court, at William's instance, to the above auditor. Seeing that Nicholas Haket, dean of Ossory, asserting that provision was made to him by papal authority on voidance by the death at the apostolic see of the above Thomas, has this day resigned into the hands of the pope, by his proctor John Feguli, canon of St. Mary's, Antwerp, an abbreviator of apostolic letters, and that the pope has admitted the resignation, and seeing that, as the said petition added, a number of persons assert that the said Walter has no right, the pope orders the above auditor if in the course of the suit he find that Walter has no right, to collate and assign the said canonry and prebend, value not exceeding 40 marks, to William, who lately received papal dispensation, as the son of an unmarried man and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold, first a benefice even with cure, and afterwards any mutually compatible benefices, of any number and kind, with or without cure, and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleased; notwithstanding that he holds the said parish church, and that the pope ordered provision to be made to him of the archdeaconry of Armagh, which is a nonmajor dignity with cure, value not exceeding 15 and 20 marks respectively, and dispensed him to hold them together for life, and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleased. Mandate to admit the resignation made by Christopher Pontfert, before John Oding, clerk, of the diocese of Paderborn, notary public, and witnesses, of his canonry and prebend of Moy in Moray, and to collate and assign to Alexander de Casteltaris, priest, of the diocese of Glasgow, bachelor of canon law, the same, value not exceeding 8l. sterling, even if the said Christopher was a chaplain of Benedict XII[I], and notwithstanding that the pope lately [above, p. 97] ordered provision to be made to Alexander of a canonry of Dunkeld and the prebend of Inchmaranach, which were expected to become void, value likewise not exceeding 8l. sterling. 2 Id. Aug. Ferentino. (f. 130.)	To the prior of Durbach in the diocese of Meath. Mandate— after he has executed the letters by which the pope has this day ordered him [below, p. 141] to cause Donatus Macreafay, priest, rector of Newtown (Noyeville) de Feartulach in the diocese of Meath, to be received as a monk of the Cistercian monastery de Benedictione Dei in the said diocese, and to receive his profession, the said church being in due course resigned—to make provision to him of the said monastery, value not exceeding 30 marks, which became and is void by the death of abbot Ymarus, although Tierney (Trinotus) Obuochan, a monk thereof, who is to be summoned and removed, has for ten years unduly detained possession of the administration; whether it be void in the way stated, or by the resignation of the said Ymarus, or in any other way. The said abbot is to cause Donatus, in the event of his making provision to him, to be blessed by a (per aliquem, cf. f. 149d) catholic bishop, who shall receive and send to the pope his oath of fealty as usual. 14 Kal. Nov. SS. Apostoli Rome. (f. 149d.)	To the dean of Derry. Mandate to make provision to Maurice McGillabride, Augustinian canon of Cella Nigra Sancti Columbe in the diocese of Derry, the son of a priest, professed of the said order, and an unmarried woman, if found fit, of the said monastery, value not exceeding 6 marks, void and therefore reserved by the death at the apostolic see of abbot Dermit; whether it be void in the way stated, or because the late Philip Magrabartaid, canon, sometime abbot thereof, resigned it into the hands of the pope, or in any other way. The above dean is to grant to Maurice, in the event of his making provision to him, that he may be blessed by any (a quocunque, cf. f. 130) catholic bishop, who is to receive and send Maurice's oath of fealty as usual. Mandate to make provision of the Cistercian monastery of Dere in the diocese of Aberdeen, the total value of whose fruits does not exceed 100l. sterling, that of the fruits of the abbatial mensa, which are separate from the rest, not exceeding 40l. sterling, void by the resignation of Andrew de Tyry, monk, sometime abbot thereof, made to and admitted by its father-abbot William, abbot of Kynlos in the diocese of Moray, to Arthur, monk of Kynlos, if found fit, who, without having obtained any dispensation, as the son of an unmarried man and an unmarried woman, has been postulated by the convent of Dere. The bishop is to further grant that he may be blessed by any catholic bishop, who shall send his oath of fealty as usual. 1429. 3 Kal. June. SS. Apostoli, Rome. (f. 156)	To the bishop of Alet. Mandate to make provision to Dermit Ochegraithaidh, Augustinian canon of Cella Nigra, Derry, if found fit, of the said abbey, value not exceeding 14 marks, void and reserved by the resignation made into the hands of the pope of Philip, canon, sometime abbot thereof; whether it became and be void in the way stated, or by the death of Donatus, or in any other way. Upon obtaining possession Dermit is to resign the sacristship of the said monastery, if he has obtained it under letters by which the pope ordered provision thereof to be made to him. 4 Id. Oct. SS. Apostoli, Rome. (f. 160d.)	To the dean of Clogher. Mandate—after he has executed the letters by which the pope has this day [below, Reg. CCXCII, f. 23d] ordered him to cause Matthew Macathassaydh alias Okinatha, priest, of the diocese of Clogher (who lately received papal dispensation, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted etc. as above, f. 50, who was litigating in the apostolic palace about the perpetual vicarage of the parish church of Langfort Megmachuna otherwise commonly called Lochtan, value not exceeding 6 marks, to whom the pope had granted provision of the perpetual vicarage of the parish church of St. Comgallus de Gaubalyuin alias of the plebs Dertragii, value not exceeding 14 marks, both in the said diocese, and whom the pope had dispensed to hold them together for life), to be received as a canon of the Augustinian monastery of SS. Peter and Paul, Cluanneoys, in the said diocese, and to receive his profession, the said vicarage of Langfort, if he won it, or his suit and all right being in due course resigned, the said grant being also null and void—to make provision to him of the said monastery, value not exceeding 24 marks, which became and is void and reserved by the death at the apostolic see of abbot Nicholas; whether it be void thus, or by the death of John Olorcan, or in any other way. The dean is to further grant to Matthew, whom the pope hereby specially dispenses, to be blessed by any catholic bishop, who shall send his oath of fealty as usual; without prejudice to the bishop of Clogher. To all etc. Relaxation, during ten years, of two years and two quarantines of enjoined penance to penitents who on the principal feasts of the year and those of the Exaltation of Holy Cross and the dedication, the usual octaves and days, and of a hundred days to those who during the said octaves and days visit and give alms for the repair of the parish church of SS. Peter and Paul, Drypole, in the diocese of York, which lacks chalices, books and other ornaments, whose buildings are ruinous, and to which on the feast of the Exaltation of Holy Cross resorts a great multitude out of devotion to a certain crucifix (erga quandam crucem cum Christi ymagine). Mandate to reserve, and afterwards to collate and assign to Maurice Macaedagain, clerk, of the diocese of Annadown, who is in about his twenty-third year, a benefice with or without cure, value not exceeding 25 or 18 marks accordingly, even if of the patronage of laymen, provided that the patrons consent, in the gift of the archbishop of Tuam and the bishop of Annadown, and the chapters etc. He is hereby dispensed, on account of his said defect of age, to hold such benefice with cure. Reservation, for collation to him, of a benefice with or without cure, wont to be assigned to secular clerks, value not exceeding 25 or 18 marks sterling accordingly, in the common or several gift of the Augustinian abbot and convent of Holyrood and the provost and chapter etc. of Lyncludan in the dioceses of St. Andrews and Glasgow; notwithstanding that he holds the said church, value not exceeding 10 marks sterling, which he is to resign upon obtaining such benefice with cure.
