1429. 8 Id. March. SS. Apostoli, Rome. (f. 27d.)	To Thomas Barby, archdeacon of Kenlys in Meath, I.U.B. Collation and assignment (at his recent petition, containing that the late Thomas Rosellis, archdeacon of Kenlys, in his cause long ventilated in the apostolic palace against John Stanyhurst, priest, of the diocese of Meath, about the said archdeaconry, a non-major dignity, which was collated to Rosellis by papal authority on its voidance by the death of Adam del Noas (sic) and of which John was unduly detaining possession, as he still does, Rosellis obtained a definitive sentence by which the archdeaconry was adjudged to him and perpetual silence imposed on John, the archdeaconry subsequently becoming void at the apostolic see, and therefore reserved, by the death there of Rosellis, who was an abbreviator of apostolic letters, without his having had possession) of the said archdeaconry, which has cure, and to which is annexed the parish church of Nobir in the said diocese, and whose value does not exceed 60 marks; notwithstanding that he holds a canonry and the prebend of Maynoth in Dublin and the perpetual vicarage of Noas in the diocese of Kildare, value not exceeding 60 and 40 marks respectively, which latter he is to resign on obtaining the archdeaconry. 5 Kal. Feb. SS. Apostoli, Rome. (f. 49.)	To the bishop of Kilfenora, the abbot of Clare (de Forgio alias de Clar) in the diocese of Killaloe, and the dean of Kilmacduagh. Mandate to collate and assign to Nicholas Macgyllaeschta, portionary of the church of Kilfenora, the deanery of the said church, a major dignity, value not exceeding 12 marks, void and reserved, under the pope's late general reservation of all major cathedral dignities, by the death of Thomas Ochondbaig, summoning and removing Donatus Magmachuna, priest, of the diocese of Kilfenora, who without any canonical title, and supported by lay power, intruded himself and has unduly detained possession for more than four years; whether it became void as stated, or because the late Fergallus Oconry obtained an incompatible benefice, or in any other way; notwithstanding that Nicholas holds a perpetual portion, an office without cure, in the said church, value not exceeding 1 mark, with which he is hereby dispensed to hold the deanery for life. Mandate to collate and assign to William Mauncell, clerk, of the diocese of Lismore, who is of noble race and has studied civil law for several years in the university of Oxford, the archdeaconry of Lismore, a non-major non-elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 15 marks, void and reserved because the late John Reve, having obtained it when holding the perpetual (sic) rectory of the parish church of Kilmydon in the diocese of Waterford, held together it and the said rectory for several years without dispensation against ‘Execrabilis’; whether it be void as stated, or by the promotion of Richard, bishop of Lismore, to that see made by papal authority, and his consecration which took place by the same authority, or by the death of the said John [Reve], or because the said bishop, being then in minor orders, held it without being promoted to holy orders within the statutory time, or be void in any other way.Nobilitas generis, vite etc. (Ri. xxx. Mandate—the archdeaconry of Achonry, a nonmajor dignity with cure, value not exceeding 6 marks, being void, and therefore reserved, because Cormac Ocoymean, when holding it obtained, collated to him by authority of letters of the present pope, the rural rectory with cure of the lands of Cuilofynd and Randa within the bounds of the parish churches, situate in the diocese of Achonry, of Kilnafraych and Kilamarcha—to collate and assign the said archdeaconry to Donald Oheara, clerk, of the said diocese, who asserts that the said Cormac, after having obtained the said rectory, unduly detained the said archdeaconry for more than four years, as he still does; who is in his twenty-second year only, and is the son of an unmarried man and an unmarried woman, related in the third and triple fourth degrees of kindred; and who has been tonsured by authority of the ordinary, the said Cormac being summoned and, on the facts being found to be as stated, removed. Donald is hereby dispensed, on account of his said defects, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold the archdeaconry and one other benefice without cure, or, after reaching the lawful age, one other benefice with cure or otherwise incompatible with the archdeaconry, and to hold the archdeaconry with such compatible benefice for life, or with such incompatible benefice for ten years, and to resign both, simply or for exchange. Provision to him, chancellor of Limerick, priest, of the said united sees, void by the resignation, made extra curiam and admitted by the pope, of Adam, bishop in the universal church, during whose administration the pope specially reserved them. Apostolatus officium.
	Concurrent letters to the chapters of Cork and Cloyne, to the clergies and to the peoples of the two cities and dioceses, and to the vassals of the two churches—Apostolatus etc.; to the archbishop of Cashel—Ad cumulum; and to Henry, king of England—Gracie divine.

Mandate to make provision to John Ysuibne, Cistercian monk of Leix (de Lege Dei) in the diocese of Leighlin, priest, of the Cistercian monastery of St. Mary, Monasterevin (de Rossa valle), in the said bishop's diocese (tue diocesis), value not exceeding 10 marks, void by the deprivation, made by David, Cistercian abbot of Baltinglass (de Valle salutis), father-abbot of St. Mary's, of Fergallus Omulian [Omallyan in Cal. Lett. VII, p. 494], monk, then abbot thereof, for his faults and demerits, who has nevertheless continued for about two years since the said deprivation to hold possession. 1429. 7 Kal. Sept. Ferentino. (f. 192.)	To William, abbot of the Cistercian monastery of Cupar (de Cupro) in the diocese of St. Andrews. Provision to him, Cistercian abbot of Kynlos in the diocese of Moray, of the above abbey, void and reserved by the resignation of Thomas de Furd, monk, then abbot thereof, made at the apostolic see by his proctor James Skirmegeour, dean of Aberdeen, D.C.L., to Lewis, cardinal priest of St. Cecilia's, and admitted by the pope. Before taking possession of the administration he is to take to the bishops of St. Andrews and Aberdeen the usual oath of fealty, etc. Summi disposicione rectoris. [See below, p. 144.]

10 Kal. Feb. SS. Apostoli, Rome. (f. 221.)	To the abbot of Ballintober (de Fonte Sancti Patricii) in the diocese of Tuam. Mandate as below. Lately the pope, on being informed by Odo Ohuigind, Augustinian canon of Cluaneis in the diocese of Clogher, that Thomas, Augustinian abbot of St. Michael's, Mayo, in the diocese of Tuam, had long kept a concubine by whom he had begotten sons and daughters, still living, had neglected and was neglecting to reside in the monastery and rule it and celebrate divine offices therein, and had been guilty of dilapidation, simony, perjury and many other crimes, ordered the abbot of Knockmoy (Collis victorie) in the diocese of Tuam, if Odo would accuse Thomas before him, to summon Thomas and others concerned, and if he found the above or enough thereof to be true, to deprive Thomas, and in that event to make provision of the said monastery to Odo (who was lately dispensed by papal authority, as the son of an unmarried man and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure), the pope at the same time dispensing him to hold the monastery. Odo's recent petition contained that the late Cornelius, abbot of Knockmoy, proceeding as above, deprived Thomas and made provision to Odo, and that Thomas appealed to the apostolic see, impetrated letters, in the matter of his appeal, addressed to the abbot of St. John the Evangelist's, Tuam, and caused Odo to be summoned before John, abbot of St. John's, who by a definitive sentence confirmed the sentence of the said abbot Cornelius; that Thomas again appealed to the said see and impetrated similar letters addressed to the archdeacon of Tuam, and that archdeacon John, Odo having been summoned before him, by an unjust definitive sentence revoked the aforesaid sentences, from which last sentence Odo has appealed to the said see. Seeing that, as the said petition added, the said first letters, in virtue of which Odo obtained possession, mentioned his illegitimacy as the son of an unmarried man and an unmarried woman, but did not express that the said man and woman were related in the second and third degrees of kindred on the one side and in the third and fourth on the other, and that therefore some hesitate as to the validity of the said letters, and that Odo himself fears molestation in the future, the pope orders the above abbot to hear the cause of the said last appeal and decide it, and if he find that the said deprivation was otherwise lawfully made, to grant to Odo that the said first letters and their consequences shall hold good from the present date as if full and express mention had been made therein of the said kinship, and to cause provision to be made to him anew, as far as necessary, in accordance therewith.Inter solicitudines. Provision to him, a Friar Minor, in priest's orders, of the said see, of which, on its voidance by the death of Nicholas, during whose life it had been specially reserved by the pope, the pope made provision to Thomas de Burgo, Augustinian canon of Clare (de Forgio) in the diocese of Killaloe, on 14 Kal. Jan.anno 9 [1425], which provision is void because the said Thomas did not have the letters thereof expedited within the lawful time. Inter cetera. [See Cal. Lett. VII, pp. 426, 460.]
