1420. 16 Kal. Feb. Florence. (f. 58)	To the bishop of Alet, Nemeas Ohanracthaych, canon of Clogher, and Peter Magurym, canon of Dromore. Mandate to collate and assign to Patrick Oronoga, clerk, of the diocese of Dromore (who lately received papal dispensation, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure), the perpetual vicarage of Druymgualland in the said diocese, value not exceeding 4 marks, void by the death of Tierney Oronoga; notwithstanding that the pope has recently made him provision of a canonry of Dromore with reservation of a prebend. Dispensation to hold for seven years with the said church, value not exceeding 50 marks, any [other] benefice with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if a dignity etc., and to resign both, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases. 1422. Id. Aug. Vicovaro. (f. 148d.)	To William Croucheston, rector of Overton in the diocese of Winchester, D.C.L. Dispensation to him, who holds also the canonry and prebend of the fourth portion in the church of Llandaff, value not exceeding 8 marks, to hold for seven years together with Overton, value not exceeding 40 marks, any other benefice with or without cure, even if another parish church etc., and to resign etc. as in the preceding. 2 Non. March. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 155d.)	To Edward Lawedree, archdeacon of Lothian (Loudonie) in St. Andrews, M.A. Grant as below. His recent petition contained that he was dispensed by Peter de Luna, called Benedict XIII, as the son of an unmarried man and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all orders and hold a benefice even with cure, afterwards to hold therewith two other benefices, and subsequently to hold any mutually compatible benefices of any number and kind, with and without cure, even if canonries and prebends, dignities etc., and to resign them, for exchange or otherwise, as often as he pleased, by virtue of which dispensations, having been so promoted, he obtained the parish churches of Suthak and Gogar, the perpetual vicarage of Old Roxburgh (de Veteri Roxburg) in the dioceses of Glasgow and St. Andrews, and the archdeaconry of Teviotdale (Thevydalie) in Glasgow, a non-major dignity with cure; that, having resigned Gogar and the said vicarage and archdeaconry, the present pope dispensed him to hold for five years Suthak and the archdeaconry of Lothian ([L]Audonie) in St. Andrews, a non-major nonelective dignity with cure (provision of which, previously reserved, the pope made to him on its becoming void) and at the same time dispensed him to resign both of them, and hold two incompatible benefices, not being two major or principal dignities etc., subsequently extending the said period of five years to the pleasure of the apostolic see. At his said petition, praying for ratification of the said dispensations of Benedict XIII, the validity of which he doubts because they were expedited under the seal of the regent of the penitentiaria at his court, the pope grants to him—who, having resigned Suthak, is litigating in the papal palace about the said archdeaconry of Lothian, to which a canonry and prebend of St. Andrews are annexed; to whom the pope has lately ordered provision to be made of the provostship of the parish church, then to be erected into a collegiate church, of St. Giles, Edinburgh [above, pp. 136 and 137], which provostship after such erection will be a principal dignity with cure, and of canonries of Glasgow and Dunkeld with reservation of as many prebends and of a dignity etc. of one of those churches, and has granted him provision of the perpetual vicarage without cure of Caral in the diocese of St. Andrews, the value of all which does not exceed 200l. of old sterlings—that the said letters of Benedict XIII shall hold good from the date thereof, as if they had been lawfully expedited under his leaden bull, and that these presents shall suffice as proof thereof. The pope here dispenses him, ex abundanti cautela, to hold any mutually compatible benefices etc., as in the above dispensation of pope Benedict. Litterarum etc. (Ri. lx. Sexto Kal. To Thomas de Lawedre, perpetual vicar of Erskyn in the diocese of Glasgow, M.A. Dispensation to him (who formerly received papal dispensation, as the son of an unmarried man and an unmarried woman, to be promoted etc., as above, f. 58, after which he had himself made a clerk and obtained the above vicarage, value not exceeding 16l. sterling, and who is a nephew of William, bishop of Glasgow, chancellor of Scotland) to hold four other benefices with or without cure, compatible with one another and the said vicarage, even if canonries and prebends, and to resign them and the said vicarage, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases. Dispensation to him (who is of noble birth, and who formerly received papal dispensation, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted etc. as in the preceding, after which he was so promoted) to hold four other benefices with or without cure, compatible with one another, even if canonries and prebends, dignities etc., and to resign them, simply or for exchange. Translation from Moray to Aberdeen, immediately subject, void by the death of Gilbert, during whose life it was reserved by the present pope. Before taking possession of the administration of the temporalities he is to take to the bishops of Dunkeld and Dunblane the usual oath of fealty, according to the form enclosed. Romani pontificis.

	Concurrent mandate to the bishops of Alet and Lichfield, and the official of Lichfield. Vite etc.
1422. 9 Kal. Sept. Vicovaro. (f. 244d.)	To James Fraunkcheyny, rector of Pyworthy in the diocese of Exeter. Indult to him, who is of noble birth, during five years to take the fruits of his benefices, and to rent, let or grant them to farm or yearly pension, to any fit persons, even laymen, whilst studying letters at an university or residing in the Roman court. Nobilitas generis, vite etc.
