1422.
8 Id. Nov.
S. Maria Maggiore, Rome.
(f. 13.)
To the prior of the priory of St. Mary, Galynd, in the diocese of Clonmacnoise. Mandate to collate and assign to Cornelius Orodochan, canon of Clonmacnoise, the still void archdeaconry of Clonmacnoise, a non-major non-elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 12 marks, of which, on its voidance by the death of Magonius Mochellan, he received collation and provision from bishop Philip by his ordinary authority. He doubts whether the collation and provision holds good. The collation is to be made notwithstanding that he holds a canonry and prebend of Clonmacnoise, value not exceeding 2 marks. Dignum etc. (Ja. xxi. Tercio Non. Decembris Anno Sexto. de Cerretanis.)
7 Kal. Feb.
St. Peter's, Rome.
(f. 25.)
To the Augustinian prior of Saints Island (Insula Omnium Sanctorum) in the diocese of Ardagh. Mandate at the information of Richard Offergayl, perpetual vicar of Tyrfaelan in the above diocese—who is of a noble race of dukes (de nobili genere ducum), has studied canon law for ten years, and lately received papal dispensation, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman related in the fourth and fourth degrees of kindred arising from a single stock, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, after which he obtained the said vicarage—to the effect that John Macgillanaem, dean of Ardagh, after papal provision had been made to him of the deanery, caused himself to be received as dean simoniacally, not only allowed the possessions of the deanery to be wasted, but himself alienated and dilapidated them, has kept a concubine, by whom he has a daughter, and still publicly keeps her, if Richard will accuse John, to summon John and others concerned, and if he find the above, or enough thereof, to be true, to deprive John, and in that event, to collate and assign the deanery, a major elective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 30 marks, to Richard; notwithstanding that he holds the said vicarage which, upon obtaining the deanery he is, as he has offered, to resign. Vite etc. (Ja. xxx. Quintodecimo Kal. Januarii Anno Septimo. de Cerretanis.)
