Mandate to collate and assign to William Croyser, canon of Dunkeld, M.A., who is studying at Paris in the faculty of theology, the perpetual vicarage of Enverlithan in the diocese of St. Andrews, value not exceeding 25l. of old sterlings, void by the death of James Walteri; notwithstanding that he holds a canonry and prebend of Dunkeld, has possession of the parish church of Kirlgonzan (sic), under a grant of it in commendam lately made to him by papal authority, and that a grant was formerly made to him by papal authority of the parish church of Magna Kaveris in the diocese of Glasgow, value not exceeding 6, 20 and 80l. of old sterlings respectively; that the present pope has ordered provision to be made to him of a canonry and prebend and the precentorship, a non-major dignity, of Moray, value together not exceeding 60l., and later of a canonry and prebend and the archdeaconry of Teviotdale (Theridalie), a dignity with cure, in Glasgow, value altogether not exceeding 80l., and has granted him provision of a benefice with or without cure, even if a canonry and prebend, dignity etc. in the gift of the bishop and chapter of Aberdeen; that he has dispensed him, by the above first letters of provision, to hold the said precentorship and the church of Magna Kaveris together for three years, and has by the second letters prolonged the said commenda by five years from the time of his obtaining the said archdeaconry; and that he has required him, upon obtaining the archdeaconry, to resign Magna Kaveris and the canonry and prebend and precentorship of Moray. He is hereby dispensed to hold together the above vicarage and the said archdeaconry during the pleasure of the apostolic see, and to resign them meanwhile, simply or for exchange. At the end of the said pleasure he is to resign the archdeaconry or the vicarage or one of the incompatible benefices which he may have obtained in their stead, and as soon as he obtains the vicarage is to resign Magna Kaveris and the canonry and prebend and precentorship of Moray; and the above grant of a benefice shall be null and void as far as regards a benefice with cure or a dignity or personatus only. Litterarum etc. (Antonius. xxxii. Nono Kal. Februarii Anno Secundo. de Ponto.) [See above, pp. 66, 67, 73, 92, 93.]
