1397. 13 Kal. Oct. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 36.)	To Nicholas Bubbewith. Provision motu proprio of the archdeaconry of Dorset in Salisbury, value not exceeding 150 (sic) marks, void and therefore reserved to the pope by the death at the apostolic see of Adam, cardinal priest of St. Cecilia's, who held it by grant of the said see; notwithstanding that he holds the churches of Brynton and Navesby in the diocese of Lincoln, and that the pope has lately granted him dispensation to hold two benefices, with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if dignities, major or principal respectively, personatus or offices, with cure, in cathedral or collegiate churches, and to exchange them for two other incompatible benefices. Upon obtaining the archdeaconry he is to resign that one which he prefers of the said two churches. Vite ac morum.
	Concurrent mandate to the bishop of Dax, the abbot of Westminster, and the official of London. Vite etc.
13 Kal. Oct. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 52.)	To Michael Cergeaux, doctor of canon and civil law. Provision of the archdeaconry of Dorset in Salisbury, value not exceeding 60 (sic) marks, void, reserved, and previously held as above, he having recently obtained collation of it under pretext of letters of king Richard, and still being in possession; notwithstanding that he holds the church of Harwe, and canonries and prebends in Hawden and the chapel called royal, in the dioceses of London, York and Lichfield, as also in Wells, Chichester, Exeter and Lichfield, value together not exceeding 300 marks; and that the pope has lately granted him dispensation, similar to the above. Litterarum sciencia, vite ac morum.

2 Kal. Nov. St. Peter's. Rome. (f. 61.)	To the bishop of London. Mandate to collate and assign to Robert Broun, rector of St. Michael's Garlechithe, London, if found fit after the usual examination in Latin, the archdeaconry of Winchester, a dignity with cure, not major, value not exceeding 100 marks, shortly to become void by the resignation of Nicholas Danyel, under the conditions of the provision which the pope has this day ordered to be made to him of the deanery, about to be void, of York; notwithstanding that he holds the said parish church, value not exceeding 60 marks, together with which he has hereby dispensation to hold the archdeaconry for five years, during which he is to exchange one of them, or resign his church. 2 Kal. Nov. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 84.)	To Nicholas Daniel, archdeacon of Winchester. Reservation of the canonry and prebend of Horton in Salisbury, and the deanery of York, an elective major dignity with cure, value together not exceeding 750 marks, which were held at the time of his promotion, made by the pope this day, by Roger, elect of Canterbury, and are still held by him, and are shortly to become void by the said promotion and by his approaching consecration; notwithstanding that he holds the said archdeaconry and the church of Symonsbyry in the diocese of Salisbury, value together not exceeding 200 marks; and that the pope has lately granted him dispensation to hold two benefices with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if elective dignities—one of them major in a metropolitan or cathedral, or principal in a collegiate church—personatus or offices, even with cure, and to exchange them as often as he pleased for two similar or dissimilar incompatible benefices. Upon obtaining the deanery the archdeaconry is to be resigned. Vite ac morum.

1397. 2 Kal. Nov. St. Peter's. Rome. (f. 186.)	To the bishop of Winchester. Mandate to reserve and collate and assign to John Fermer, rector of Rybcestre, in the diocese of York, if found fit after examination, the canonry and prebend of Prees in Lichfield, value not exceeding 60 marks, about to become void, as in the preceding; notwithstanding that he holds the said church, value not exceeding 70 marks. Dignum arbitramur.
3 Id. Jan. St. Peter's. Rome. (f. 189.)	To the prior of Durham. Mandate to collate and assign to Thomas de Soutton, clerk, of the diocese of York, if found fit after examination, the canonry and prebend of Lumssy, value not exceeding 20 marks, in the collegiate church of Chester [le Street] in the diocese of Durham, void and therefore reserved to the pope by the death of Guy de Pestell[o] at the apostolic see. 2 Kal. Nov. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 209.)	To the bishop of Winchester. Mandate to reserve and to collate and assign to Thomas Wysbech, rector of Huntfeld (sic), in the diocese of Chichester, if found fit after examination, the canonry and prebend of Wileston in London, value not exceeding 30 marks, about to become void, as above, f. 84, by the consecration of Roger; notwithstanding that he holds the said church, value not exceeding 80 marks, and that the pope has lately granted him dispensation to hold for seven years one other benefice with cure, even an elective dignity with cure, major or principal respectively, personatus or office in a metropolitan, cathedral or collegiate church, and to exchange both as often as he pleased, for two similar or dissimilar incompatible benefices. 6 Non. Oct. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 210d.)	To the bishop of Coimbra (Colimbrien.). Mandate to collate and assign to a canon, named, of his church, a canonry and prebend of the church of St. Martin, Cedoseyta, in the diocese of Oporto (Portugalen.), value not exceeding 20l. petits Tournois, void and therefore reserved to the pope by the death at the apostolic see of Adam, cardinal priest of St. Cecilia's. Dignum arbitramur.
3 Kal. Sept. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 255d.)	To Walter Cook, canon of Lincoln. Reservation motu proprio of the canonry and prebend of Faringdon in Salisbury, value not exceeding 100 marks (corrected in margin from 80), which were held at the time of his promotion, made by the pope, by Guy, elect of St. Davids, and are about to become void by the said promotion and by his approaching consecration. Vite etc.
	Concurrent mandate to the bishop of Dax, the abbot of Westminster, and the official of London. Vite etc.
2 Kal. Nov. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 258.)	To William Bulcote, rector of Berughby, in the diocese of Lincoln, licentiate in civil law. Reservation of the canonry and prebend of Castre, in Lincoln, value not exceeding 80 marks, about to become void by the consecration, as above, f. 84, of Roger; notwithstanding that he holds the said church, value not exceeding 100 marks, and has lately had from the pope dispensation to hold for life one other benefice, etc., as above, f. 209. Litterarum sciencia, vite etc.

Prid. Kal. Nov. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 260.)	To the bishop of Winchester. Mandate to reserve and to collate and assign to Henry Hamerton, rector of Bydyngden, in the diocese of Canterbury, if found fit after examination, the canonry and prebend of Gyllyngham, in the nuns’ church of Shaftesbury, in the diocese of Salisbury, value not exceeding 160 marks, about to become void, as in the preceding; notwithstanding that he holds the parish churches of Bedyngdon and Lokyngton, and a perpetual portion in that of Bedyngton in the dioceses of Canterbury, York and Winchester, value together not exceeding 120 marks, and has lately had from the pope dispensation to hold two benefices with cure or otherwise incompatible, etc., as above, f. 84. Dignum arbitramur.
8 Kal. Aug. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 277d.)	To Walter Cook, B.C.L. Provision motu proprio of the canonry and prebend of Warthill, in York, value not exceeding 50 marks. Christopher, cardinal priest of St. Ciriac's, had papal provision of the archdeaconry of Berkshire, void by the death of Andrew, cardinal priest of SS. Marcellinus and Peter, and previously reserved. Before obtaining possession he exchanged it for the said canonry or prebend with Cook, who had obtained them by papal provision on the death of Richard Carleton, and had likewise not obtained possession; the pope receiving both resignations, and making provision of the canonry and prebend to the cardinal, whether void by the death of Richard or by Cook's resignation or otherwise. The said canonry and prebend having since become void by the cardinal's resignation at the apostolic see, the pope hereby ratifies the resignation, and makes provision to Cook—who has recently obtained possession of them by collation of the ordinary, upon their voidance by the resignation of their possessor Nicholas Slake, made to Thomas dean of London, who had special power from Robert, archbishop of York. 8 Id. April. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 336.)	To John Black. Provision of a canonry with reservation of a prebend in the church of Verona, and the like in that of Padua; notwithstanding that he holds the parish church of St. John de Quinzano without the walls, Verona, and a perpetual benefice without cure called a clerkship (clerieatus) in the church of SS. Felix and Fortunatus, Gardone, in the diocese of Trent (Tridentin.), and that the pope has lately made provision to him of canonries of Trent and Treviso with expectations of prebends, by virtue of which he has accepted, though he has not yet got possession of, a prebend of Trent. Vite ac morum.
	Concurrent mandate to the bishop of Dax, the abbot of St. Mary's in Organis, Verona, and the prior of St. Benedict's, Padua. Vite etc. (De mandato.)

	Concurrent mandate to the bishop of Tuy, the abbot of St. Mary's by Dublin, and the prior of St. John's priory, Tristildermot, in the diocese of Dublin. Vite etc.
