1397. 13 Kal. Sept. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 3.)	To the abbot of Pypwell. Mandate to reserve and afterwards to collate and assign to William Wartre, clerk, of the diocese of Lichfield, according to his fitness after the usual examination in Latin, a benefice for secular clerks, not a canonry and prebend in a cathedral church, value not exceeding 40 marks with cure or 18 without, in the common or several gift of the bishop and provost, dean and chapter and each of the canons and persone of Lincoln, and of the abbot and convent of Peterborough. Dignum arbitramur.
8 Kal. Nov. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 15.)	To William Clyve, clerk, of the diocese of Dublin. Reservation of a benefice for secular clerks value not exceeding 25 marks with cure or 18 without, in the common or several gift of the abbot and convent of St. Thomas the Martyr's by Dublin; notwithstanding that the pope has recently ordered provision to be made to him [below Reg. LI. f. 353,] of a canonry of Dublin, with expectation of a prebend. Vite ac morum.
	Concurrent mandate to the bishops of Tuy and Meath, and the abbot of Kenlys, in the latter diocese. Vite etc.
Id. April. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 50.)	To John ap David, priest, of the diocese of St. Davids. Reservation of a benefice, even if a cathedral canonry or prebend, value not exceeding 25 marks with cure or 18 without, in the common or several gift of the bishop, chapter, and each of the canons of St. Davids. 	Concurrent mandate to the bishop of Concordia, the prior of St. John the Evangelist's, Kermerdyn (Carmarthen), in the said diocese, and the archdeacon of Brecon. Vite etc. (Pro Deo.)
Ibid. (f. 55.)	To Roger Sare, priest, of the diocese of Exeter. Reservation of a benefice for secular clerks, not a cathedral canonry and prebend, value not exceeding 25 marks with cure or 18 without, in the common or several gift of the bishop and dean and chapter, and each of the canons and persone of Exeter, and of the Augustinian prior and convent of Lanceston; notwithstanding that the pope has this day ordered provision to be made to him of the perpetual vicarage of Poghwill, in the same diocese. Upon obtaining such benefice with cure the said vicarage, if meanwhile obtained, is to be resigned. Vite ac morum.
	Concurrent mandate to the bishop of Dax, the abbot of Tavystoke, and the chancellor of Exeter. Vite etc.
3 Kal. April. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 126.)	To Richard Kymmour, priest, of the diocese of Dublin. Reservation of a like benefice of like value in the like gift of the bishop of Meath, and the abbot and convent of canons regular of St. Thomas the Martyr's, in the diocese of Dublin. Vite ac morum.
	Concurrent mandate to the archbishop of Armagh, the bishop of Tuy, and the archdeacon of Armagh. Vite etc. (Pro Deo.)

1396. Kal. Dec. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 246.)	To Nicholas, abbot of St. Silvester's Nonantola, in the diocese of Modena, papal nuncio in England. Mandate to admonish and order William Feraby (sic, Feriby on f. 246d), clerk, of York, who unlawfully detains it, to resign to Christopher, cardinal priest of St. Ciriac's, possession of the archdeaconry of Esduringhit (East Riding), provision of which, on its voidance, was lately made to him by the pope, to whom it had been previously reserved, and to make satisfaction to him for fruits received; to admonish and order, under penalty of excommunication, suspension and interdict, the archbishop and chapter of York to admit the cardinal and to remove William, and the subjects and husbandmen (coloni) of the archdeaconry to obey and to be answerable to (respondere) the cardinal and not William for the fruits. If the abbot's monition and mandate be not obeyed by William, faculty is hereby given to deprive him of all his benefices, and to disable him from holding others. Power is given to publish, if convenient, such monitions to the archbishop and others by public edicts posted in public places in the neighbourhood of the city of York, which monitions shall be binding as if personally served. 11 Kal. Dec. St. Peter's, Rome (f. 246d.)	To [Nicholas] abbot, etc. as above. Mandate approximating to the above in substance, and differing mainly in its forms. The chief differences of matter are the statement that the pope lately made provision to cardinal Christopher of the archdeaconry on the death without the Roman court of Bartholomew, cardinal priest of St. Pudentiana's, papal legate in certain parts, who held it by grant of the apostolic see, and the absence of the specific mention of the archbishop of York.
