Footnotes

  • 1. On the back of the volume is the usual modern description in Latin: 1467–68. An. iv. Pauli ii. There is no contemporary end-paper, with the usual contemporary description, and Mgr. Wenzel's numerical note is also wanting. The contemporary description occurs, however, although hardly legible, on the bottom edge of the volume, as usual, viz.: Primus de diversis et de [plenaria] remissions (?) anno iiiio . domini nostri domini Pauli pape ii. There are ff. i.–ccciiii. of text + f. cccv. blank.
  • 2. On f. 12 is a dispensation ad incompatibilia for Peter Dauby (or Danby), a canon of Térouane, dated 6 Id. Dec. 1467 anno 4.
  • 3. The date had ‘apud sanctum Petrum,’ but ‘Petrum’ is cancelled and over-written ‘H.,’ ‘Marcum’ being substituted in the margin and subscribed by the same ‘H.,’ i.e. Hugolinus Folani. The date also ended ‘anno quarto,’ but ‘quarto’ is cancelled and over-written ‘H.,’ and ‘tercio' similary substituted.
  • 4. L. de is cut off by the binder from the margin of the indult which immediately precedes in the Register, and to which ‘Idem’ refers.
  • 5. The ‘k’ appears to be made upon a premature ‘y’.
  • 6. The second ‘c’ is, apparently, corrected from the ‘t’ of what was thus ‘Cartagien.,’ representing ‘Cartagena.’
  • 7. i.e. double the usual tax. Cf. above, Reg. Lat. DCLVII, f. 255, and note.
  • 8. The ‘c’ appears to be made out of an ‘r.’
  • 9. In each case not described as a ‘nobilis mulier.’
  • 10. i.e. without the ‘et cuilibet vestrum’ clause.
  • 11. in presentiarum existentibus.
  • 12. In an indult to have a portable altar, registered on f. 286d, under date St. Mark's, Rome, 1467, 8 Kal. Dec. anno 4, to Ludovicus Vaca, lord of the places de Olividillo et de Quintana ac de Auguse, in the diocese of ‘Exomen.,’ and Blanca his wife, ‘Exomen.’ is evidently an error, not for Exonien., but for ‘Oxomen.,’ i.e. Osma in Spain.
  • 13. ’Decembris’ is cancelled and over-written ‘P(etru)s,’ but no other month is substituted in the margin.
  • 14. in,? recte de, as in other instances.
  • 15. The wives are not described as noblewomen.
  • 16. in,? recte de, as in other instances.
