Land Tax Bill:

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for granting an Aid to Her Majesty, by a Land Tax, to be raised in the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Five."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Message to H. C. that the Lords have agreed to it.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir John Francklyn and Sir Robert Legard:

To let them know, that the Lords have agreed to the said Bill, without any Amendment.

Palmes, Time enlarged for bringing an Appeal.

Upon reading the Petition of William Palmes; shewing, "That a Decree was pronounced in the Court of Chancery, against the Petitioner, the Seven and Twentieth of November last; that the Register hath drawn up the Decree; and that the Plaintiff's Solicitor refuses to give an Account when he will return the Order to the Register; and that, until he hath a Copy thereof, the Petitioner cannot be prepared to advise with his Counsel, to draw his Appeal, so as to bring it within the Time limited by the Order of this House;" and praying, "that he may be allowed a Week's Time after the said Decree is passed by the Register, to prefer his Petition of Appeal into this House:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Petitioner hath hereby Time allowed him for bringing the said Appeal, as desired.

Biddulph's Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for settling of the Tithes of certain Lands, in Franckton, in the County of Warwick, upon Simon Biddulph Esquire, and his Heirs; and for settling a Rent and Charge of Thirty-three Pounds per Annum, in Lieu thereof, upon the present Rector there, and his Successors for ever."

ORDERED, That the Consideration of the said Bill be committed to the Lords following; (videlicet,)

Dr. Watson to bring in his Writ of Error.

Whereas Her Majesty's Attorney General informed this House, "That Her Majesty having obtained a Judgement in the Court of Exchequer, in an Information of Intrusion, against Thomas Watson Doctor in Divinity and Johanna Watson Defendants; and the same having been affirmed in the Exchequer Chamber, the Defendants have brought a Writ of Error, returnable in Parliament; but have neglected to transmit the same:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Plaintiffs in the said Writ of Error do bring the same into this House, with the Transcript of the Record of the Judgement, on or before Thursday next, at Eleven a Clock in the Forenoon.

Coke's Bill.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for Confirmation of an Agreement, made between Thomas late Lord Bishop of Carlisle and Thomas Coke Esquire, for vesting the Rectory of Melborne, in the County of Derby, in the said Thomas Coke and his Heirs, upon Augmentation of the Rents to the Bishopric of Carlisle, and of the Stipend to the Vicar of Melborne."

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure, to robe.

The House was resumed.

Queen present.

Her Majesty, being seated on Her Royal Throne, adorned with Her Crown and Regal Ornaments, attended with Her Officers of State, the Peers being also in their Robes, commanded the Deputy Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod to signify to the House of Commons, "That it is Her Majesty's Pleasure, they attend Her presently, in the House of Peers."

Who being come; their Speaker made a short Speech, in relation to the Land Tax Bill to be passed.

Then the Clerk of the Parliaments took the said Bill from the Hands of the Speaker, and brought it to the Table; where the Clerk of the Crown read the Title of that and the other Bills to be passed as follow; (videlicet,)

Bills passed.

"1. An Act for granting an Aid to Her Majesty, by a Land Tax, to be raised in the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Five."

To which Bill the Clerk of the Parliaments pronounced the Royal Assent, in these Words; (videlicet,)

"La (fn. 1) Raine remercie ses (fn. 1) bon Subjects, accepte leur Benevolence, et ainsi le veult."

"2. An Act for settling the Right of several Parcels of Land and other Tenements, and of certain Fishings and Tithes of Fishings, in the Society of the Governor and Assistants, London, of the new Plantation in Ulster, within the Realm of Ireland, and their Successors; and for settling a Rent Charge of Two Hundred and Fifty Pounds per Annum upon the Lord Bishop of Derry, and his Successors for ever."

"3. An Act for naturalizing Thomas Levingston, Viscount Teviott in the Kingdom of Scotland."

"4. An Act for naturalizing Louise Marie Cressett, the Wife of James Cressett Esquire."

To these Bills the Royal Assent was pronounced by the Clerk of the Parliaments, in these Words; (videlicet,)

"Soit fait come il est desiré."

Queen's Speech.

Then Her Majesty was pleased to say as followeth; (videlicet,)

"My Lords and Gentlemen,

"I am glad of this Occasion to return you My hearty Thanks for your making good the Assurances you gave Me, in your several Addresses, of your Zeal and Readiness to promote the Public Business.

"And I must thank you, Gentlemen of the House of Commons, in particular, for your early Dispatch of so great a Part of the necessary Supplies; which cannot fail of being a very essential Advantage, both in the Forwardness of our own Preparations, and in the great Encouragement it will give to all our Allies.

"My Lords and Gentlemen,

"I look upon this good Beginning to be so sure a Pledge of your Affections for My Service, and for our common Interest, that I have not the least Doubt but you will continue with the same Zeal to dispatch what remains of the Public Business, and to bring this Session to a happy and speedy Conclusion."

Then Her Majesty was pleased to withdraw; and the Commons went to their House.

Adjourn.
