Dent versus Sir. W. Buck et al.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Thomas Dent Doctor in Divinity, Complainant, against Sir William Buck Baronet, William Walker, alias Walcot, Edward Kitchen, Thomas Jervase, John Young, Thomas Sheppard, Joseph Smith, Richard Clifton, John Rawlingson, John Garland, Timothy Lacy, Richard Rastall, and John Eagle, Defendants, from a Dismission of the Petitioner's Bill in the Court of Exchequer Chamber, made and pronounced the One and Twentieth of February One Thousand Seven Hundred, and affirmed upon a Re-hearing on the Sixth Day of December last; and praying "the same may be set aside and reversed; and that he may have Tithes in Kind decreed, as well of Hanby, as of Grange Leas; and that the Defendants abovementioned may answer to this Appeal; and that, in the mean Time, Proceedings may be stayed; and that the Service of the Respondents Clerk in the Exchequer may be good Service:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Sir William Buck, William Walker, Edward Kitchen, Thomas Jervase, John Young, Thomas Sheppard, Joseph Smith, Richard Clifton, John Rawlinson, John Garland, Timothy Lacy, Richard Rastall, and John Eagle, may have a Copy of the said Appeal; and shall and they are hereby required to put in their Answers thereunto, in Writing, on Tuesday the Tenth Day of this Instant March, at Eleven a Clock in the Forenoon; and that the Service of this Order upon the Respondents Clerk in the Exchequer shall be good Service; and, in the mean Time, all Proceedings shall be stayed in the Court below.

The Lord Viscount Longueville reported from the Lords Committees, the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable Trustees to sell certain Lands, Tithes, and Tenements, for the Payment of the Debts of Francis Purefoy Esquire, deceased," as fit to pass, with some Amendments.

Which were read Twice, and agreed to; and the Bill ordered to be engrossed, with the said Amendments.

The Lord North and Grey took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, pursuant to the Statute; and signed the Association.

Upon reading the Petition of the Mayor, Commonalty, and Citizens, of the City of London, the Wardens and Commonalty of the Mystery of the Mercers of the City of London, and the Lecturers of Gresham Colledge, in the said City; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, to empower the City and Company to pull down the present Building called Gresham Colledge, and to make such Building for the Lecturers as is agreed upon, which will be more convenient; and for the better Performance of the Charities given by Sir Thomas Gresham's Will:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the Cause now depending in this House, wherein the Right Honourable Thomas Lord Raby is Appellant, and Thomas Wentworth Respondent, on Tuesday the Tenth Day of this Instant March, at Eleven a Clock in the Forenoon.

Protestation against the Bill for settling the Succession, Debate about.

The Order being read, for taking into Consideration the Protestation entered the Four and Twentieth of February last:

The First Reason in the Protestation was read.

After Debate;

It was proposed, "That the First Reason in the Protestation be expunged."

After further Debate;

First Reason in it to be expunged.

The Question was put, "Whether the First Reason in the Protestation shall be expunged?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Then the Second Reason was read.

Freeholders to keep Arms, Bill.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Bill, intituled, An Act for the more effectual Security of His Majesty's Government, and the Liberties and Properties of His Subjects, by allowing Freeholders and others to keep Musquets, and exercise themselves in shooting," shall be read To-morrow, at One a Clock; and all the Lords summoned.
