Queen Isabella, the duke of Cornwall, prince of Wales, and earl of Chester, the earl of Lancaster, and the earl of Warwick, founders of the monastery of St. Evroul, in the diocese of Lisieux. Signification that it was founded on certain churches and rents in England, from which, during the wars between France and England, the abbot and convent could receive nothing, and that on account of the mortality in those parts their lands remained uncultivated, so that their rents are lessened, their manors in Normandy have been burned, their goods devastated, and they are obliged, by a recent papal provision, to pay 1062 florins to the papal camera and sacred college. Pope Celestine appropriated to their house the churches of Turkeliston, Belegrava, and Biffelda, in the diocese of Lincoln, but as these churches were and are held by secular rectors the appropriation has had no effect. They therefore pray the pope to appropriate the said churches, or at least Turkeliston and Bisfelda, of their patronage.
