Edward, the king's eldest son. Whereas his clerk, Simon de Islep, by authority of the bishop, obtained the church of Horncastre, in the diocese of Lincoln, formerly held and resigned by Peter Gallicianus; but since Peter is said to have been papal chaplain it may be that the church was reserved to the collation of the pope; he prays the pope to confirm Simon's title, or to make provision to him anew; notwithstanding that he has a prebend of Lincoln, value 10 marks.

Whereas there are eighteen counties without a convent, and none in Wales, so that the king petitioned Benedict XII. by letters, which on account of that pope's death are still unopened, for a licence to the brethren to accept convents according to the number of the counties; they ask for a licence to accept twelve houses in England and Wales.
