Veale's Cause.

Upon Report of the Lords Committees for Petitions:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords in Parliament assembled, That it is referred to the Lord Chancellor, to give the Cause of Edmond Veale (concerning which he hath by Petition appealed to this House) a speedy Re-hearing in Chancery; and that the said Veale may be admitted as a Pauper, and have Counsel assigned him by that Court.

Message from H. C. with an Order.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Thomas Clergies, &c.

To desire their Lordships Concurrence in a Vote for Ten Thousand Pounds to General Monck, charged upon the Assessments. (Here enter it.)

Read and Agreed to.

The Answer returned was:

That their Lordships have read this Vote now brought up, and do concur therein.

Order for securing the Profits of Livings where the Ministers were ejected.

Resolved, upon the Question, by the Lords assembled in Parliament, That all the Tithes, Glebes, and other Profits, of or belonging to the several Rectories, and other Ecclesiastical Livings and Benesices, of such of the Clergy as have been sequestered or ejected, without due Course of Law, in or since the Time of the late Wars, be, by Authority hereof, stayed and secured in the Hands of the Churchwardens or Overseers of the Poor of the said several Parishes, until the Titles of the said sequestered Clergy, and of the present Possessors thereof, shall be determined by the further Order of Parliament, or Eviction by due Course of Law.

Serj. at Arms and Black Rod, about executing the Warrants of this House.

Upon reading the Petition of Humphrey Leigh, Serjeant at Arms; shewing, "That, by his Patent, all Warrants are to be directed unto him, for apprehending of Delinquents; but Mr. James Maxwell, Gentleman of the Black Rod, formerly obtained an Order of this House, that all Warrants should be directed unto him:"

It is ORDERED, That the Petitioner shall be heard, concerning this Business, on Monday Morning next; and the Gentleman Usher to be then heard also concerning his Right.

Marq. of Newcastle's Order.

ORDERED, That there be a Stop made of the Cutting of the Woods, and preserving of Iron, and committing of Waste, upon the Iron Works in Sherwood Forrest, belonging to the Marquis of Newcastle, until further Order of this House, or a Trial at Law.

Trustees for Ministers.

Upon Report made by the Earl of Dorsett, concerning Writings and Books belonging to the Trustees for Ministers:

It is ORDERED, That this House confirms the said Report.

Dr. Lewis versus Laurance.

Upon reading the Petition of Doctor Lewis, against one George Laurance, Usurper of the Hospital of St. Crosse's:

It is ORDERED, That a Copy of this Petition be served upon the said Laurance, who is to return an Answer thereof to this House within a Week after the serving thereof.

L. Darcy, Leave to be absent.

ORDERED, That the Lord Darcy hath Leave to go into the Country, who intends to leave his Proxy.

Order for Payment of 10,000 l. to Gen. Monk.

"ORDERED, by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, That Ten Thousand Pounds, Part of what remains in Arrear and unpaid of the Twenty Thousand Pounds conferred by Parliament on the Lord General Monck, be charged on the Act and Ordinance for an Assessment of Seventy Thousand Pounds by the Month for Three Months, commencing the 24th of June, 1660, and be paid in Course to the Lord General Monck, or such as he shall appoint to receive the same, by the Treasurer or Receiver General appointed to receive the said Assessments, out of the Monies which shall come in by virtue of the said Act and Ordinance."

Deeds belonging to Peers, in the Hands of the Trustees for Ministers.

Upon Report of the Lords Committees for Consideration of Ordinances formerly made, after this House was voted useless:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords assembled in Parliament, That the Clerks appointed to inventory the Books, Writings, &c. at Mr. Phelpe's House, do separate those Books, Writings, Papers, &c. which relate to the Impropriations of Peers and Dowagers of Peers, from the rest of the Writings there; and that Mr. Rich, who is appointed to have the Inspection of the said Writings, Papers, &c. shall give an Account thereof to this House from Time to Time.

Order to prevent Waste on the Marq. of Newcastle's Estate.

Upon Information given this Day to the House, "That there is great Waste committed in the Forest of Sherwood, by cutting of Timber and Woods in the said Forest, and destroying of Iron Works there, belonging to the Marquis of Newcastle:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords in Parliament assembled, That there be forthwith a Stop made of cutting any more Timber or Wood in the said Forest; and that there be no more Waste committed upon Iron, nor the Iron Works, belonging to the said Marquis; and that such Timber as is already cut shall not be taken or carried out of the said Forest, nor the Iron now lying upon the Place, until further Order of this House, or that it be determined by due Course of Law.

Order concerning the Profits of the Rectory of Pickwell, belonging to L. Campden.

ORDERED, by the Lords assembled in Parliament, That all the Tithes, Glebes, and other Profits, of or belonging to the Rectory of Pickwell, in the County of Leycester, whereof the Right Honourable Baptist Viscount Campden is undoubted Patron (the Person whom the said Lord Campden last presented being dead, who was in the Time of the late Wars sequestered from the said Rectory of Pickwell), be, by Authority hereof, stayed and secured in the Hands of the Churchwardens or Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Pickwell, until the Title of the said Lord Viscount Campden the Patron, and of the present Possessor thereof, shall be determined by the further Order of Parliament, or Eviction by due Course of Law.
