Lords take the Oaths.
This Day John Duke of Newcastle and William Earl of Yarmouth took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, pursuant to the Statute.
Grosvenor versus Coy.
Whereas Thursday the First Day of May next was appointed for hearing of the Cause wherein John Grosvenor is Appellant, and John Coy Respondent:
The House being this Day moved, "That a further Day may be appointed for hearing the said Cause, (Mr. Grosvenor's Solicitor being out of Town);" it is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel, at the Bar, on Saturday the Tenth Day of May next, at Eleven a Clock.
Perkins versus Perkins.
Upon reading the Petition of Edmund Perkins Esquire; shewing, "That he had Notice, some Time since, that there was a Bill depending in this House, upon the Petition of Elizabeth Perkins his Wife, with Design to deprive him of Five Children, which Bill is ordered to be read a Second Time the Nine and Twentieth Instant; that his Witnesses live above One Hundred Miles from London; and praying, that he may have a convenient Time allowed, to be heard, by his Counsel, before the said Bill be read the Second Time:"
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Petitioner shall be heard, by his Counsel and Witnesses, what he hath to offer against the said Bill, before the Second Reading thereof, on Tuesday the Thirteenth Day of May next.
Hide's Bill.
Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for vesting the Estate of Humphry Hide Esquire, deceased, in Trustees, for raising Portions for his Younger Children."
ORDERED, That the Consideration of the said Bill be committed to the Lords following; (videlicet,)
Their Lordships, or any Five of them; to meet on Thursday the Eighth Day of May next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings near the House of Peers; and to adjourn as they please.
Countess of Anglesey's Bill for a Separation.
The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee on the Bill, intituled, "An Act for separating James Earl of Anglesey from Katherine Countess of Anglesey his Wife, for the Cruelty of the said Earl."
After some Time, the House was resumed.
And the Lord North and Grey reported, "That the Committee had made some further Progress in the Bill; and desire another Time may be appointed, for them to proceed thereupon; and that the Judges do in the mean Time draw a Clause, or Clauses, to be added to the Bill, as agreed on in the Committee."
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Mr. Justice Nevill and Mr. Baron Tracy do draw a Clause, or Clauses, to be added to the Bill, intituled, "An Act for separating James Earl of Anglesey from Katherine Countess of Anglesey his Wife, for the Cruelty of the said Earl," on the Heads agreed upon in the Committee of the whole House the Fourteenth Instant, and present them to the Committee of the whole House To-morrow, at Twelve of the Clock; at which Time the House shall be put into a Committee again on the said Bill.
Ly. Say and Seale versus L. Say and Seal.
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lords Referees for the Lady Viscountess Say and Seale and the Lord Viscount Say and Seale shall make their Report on Friday next, at Twelve a Clock.
Sir John Dillon's Bill for a Divorce.
Whereas To-morrow was appointed for hearing Counsel and Witnesses, for and against the Bill, intituled, "An Act for dissolving the Marriage of Sir John Dillon with Mary Boyle, and for other Purposes therein mentioned:"
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Counsel and Witnesses shall be heard thereupon on Friday next, at Eleven a Clock.
