What remains in Devon there is no manner of account of, but the quantity must be but small.
Upon considering the above state my Lords direct the [Principal] Officers of the Mint to make publication that 500 tons of tin will be exposed to sale by inch of candle at 2l. 10s. 0d. per hundredweight and that after the disposal of this quantity no more shall be sold within the space of three months.
[My Lords request] Sir Isaac Newton and Dr. Fouquiere to prepare an advertisement [as to the above sale] to be inserted in the Gazette on Saturday and the Daily Courant.
[My Lords order] Mr. Lowther to pay the fees of the warrant &c. for 800l. in the name of Sir Alexander Cairnes.
Prepare a warrant for a pension of 80l. per an. [to be payable] by Mr. Clayton to Benjamin Tyers, which his Majesty is pleased to grant him in consideration of the services performed by him in the time of the late Rebellion.
The like for William Powel to be inserted on Mr. Clayton's list for a pension of 40l. per an. and a bounty of 20l. to be given him by the hands of Mr. Lowther.
Issue a quarter's allowance to Michaelmas to Mr. Frampton.
Issue 300l. to the Treasurer of the Chamber to defray the charges of lodgings and other expenses which may arise during his Majesty's stay at Newmarket.

[My Lords order] Mr. Colby, [one of the] Commissioners for Transports, to provide all things necessary for the transportation of the 200 Wurtembergers and Palatines mentioned in a list transmitted to my Lords by Lord Sunderland pursuant to his Majesty's command and for all such others of the said poor [Palatines &c.] as will go for Holland, [such transport to be] at the easiest and cheapest rates. My Lords direct 10s. per head to be allowed them for their provisions in their voyage and 10s. more to be paid to each of them at their arrival at Rotterdam.
The list and a copy of Lord Sunderland's letter is to be sent to Mr. Colby with these instructions.
[My Lords order] Mr. Lowther to reimburse Mr. Beranger the fees paid by him [Beranger] upon receiving at the Exchequer the amount of the several bills drawn upon him by Mr. Whitworth and Mr. Leathes at the Hague for the maintenance of Baron Gortz during his confinement. Mr. Aislabie [Treasurer of the Navy] comes in and lays before my Lords a memorial for 85,025l. 17s.d. to answer the service of the Navy; whereupon my Lords order 20,000l. in part to be issued out of loans now in the Exchequer on the Duties on Malt anno 1717; and that the remaining 65,025l. 17s.d. be negotiated between the said Mr. Aislabie and the Earl of Lincoln in manner following, viz. 65,025l. 17s.d. is to be issued out of the like loans unto the Earl of Lincoln, who is immediately to pay the same over unto the said Mr. Aislabie upon his transferring to the said Earl in lieu thereof a like sum out of the [annuities] stock that he (Mr. Aislabie) is possessed of for the use of the public in the Bank and upon which there is payable an annuity after the rate of 4 per cent. per an. [under clauses 21 and 22 of the Act 3 Geo. I, c. 7]; the said stock to remain in the hands of the Earl of Lincoln to attend [its application to] such services as my Lords shall direct hereafter.

My Lords, on reading a memorial from the Earl of Lincoln signed by Mr. Sloper for arrears to the Munster and Saxe-Gotha Troops taken into service upon occasion of the late Rebellion, do order that the said arrears amounting to 24,188l. 3s. 10d. as followeth be paid out of the Fond for Annuities at 4 per cent. per an. for the use of the public in the hands of the Treasurer of the Navy: viz.

Memorial of William Muire, junr., Esq., of Cladwell, for the payment of his pension of 200l. per an. out of the rents and Duties of the Earldom of Ross in Scotland. Prepare a letter to the Barons of the Exchequer in Scotland inclosing this petition [and] desiring them if they find the allegations true, to pay the sum demanded according to the privy seal.
Letter from an officer in his Majesty's Yard at Deptford [praying] to be excused from paying taxes. Referred to the Agents for Taxes.
The Customs Commissioners' report on the petition of Keneth Gordon to be collector of Philadelphia. Agreed.
Mr. Shirs' petition to the King and the order of reference [by the Privy Council, thereof] to the Treasury Lords. Mr. Powys to prepare a report to be made to the King, taking notice that when the principal and interest upon the loans on tin is paid off this is proper to be considered among the rest. The Commissioners for Taxes attending are called in and a certificate is read of money paid into the Exchequer upon the sixteenth 4s. Aid inno 1716 with an account of the arrears standing out in the country and the remains in the hands of the respective Receivers. My Lords upon considering the same are pleased to direct the [Taxes] Commissioners to prepare the following letters and to lay the same before my Lords for their approbation: viz.
to the [Assessment] Commissioners for Land Tax for Co. Surrey to acquaint my Lords with the reason why so great an arrear as 16,586l. is standing out in the country uncollected.
a like letter to Archibald Douglass, Receiver [of said Aid] for Scotland, to certify my Lords the reason why so great an arrear as 14,954l. remains in his hands and [in] the country; as also to send my Lords an account of the money paid by him out of the public money in his hands for arms brought in by the several Clans pursuant to an Act of Parliament [1 Geo. Mr. Payne's representation to the Lords of the Treasury with the Excise Commissioners' report [thereon]. Read. My Lords have read again the report of the Commissioners of Excise and this replication and do concur in opinion with the Commissioners and therefore cannot advise the King to remit this money, which is appropriated by several Acts of Parliament.
The petition of Capt. John Key for a pension. The petition and reference to be translated into French [for the King's perusal] and [the petitioner] to be recommended to the King for a pension of 100l. per an.

[My Lords desire the Commissioners for Stating Army Debts to inspect the accounts of the Forces mentioned by him and to see what justice has been done to the Crown in respect of money advanced upon account of pay; and to give my Lords their opinion what is just and reasonable to be done therein.
The Salt Commissioners' report on Mr. Symmer's petition. The petitioner may apply to Parliament. My Lords can give no other relief than ordinary [viz., by ordering] process to be stopped to the end of Hilary term next.
