the petition of John Morgan for a fresh lease of tenements in Kingsthorpe
co. Northants. which his father obtained in 1681 from the
then Master and Chaplains of the Hospital of the Savoy, the lands
and revenues of which Hospital are now vested in the Queen.

Major Parsons of Lord Lucas's Regiment praying that several

Treasury reference to the Comptrollers of Army Accounts of the
petition of Visct. Teviot shewing that in 1697 one half of his
Regiment was disbanded, by reason whereof the offreckonings (which
should satisfy the clothier) could not be paid : that the clothier
has compelled petitioner to comply with his contract so that he
hath paid 2300l. : and that when his Regiment was given to Lord
Hay the Queen assured him the arrears and clothing should be made

Report by Treasurer Godolphin to the Queen laying (a) infra
before her Majesty. I am of opinion it will be to the benefit
of the revenue to have a settlement of ports and places in Virginia
for lading and discharge of ships as the Customs Commissioners
propose.
Appending : (a) Presentment from the Customs Commissioners
to Treasurer Godolphin dated Custom House, London, 7 March
1704-5. By the annexed memorial [missing] Colonel Edward
Jennings, Mr. Micajah Perry and other merchants trading to
Virginia give their reasons for settling certain ports and places
as above exclusive of others. We concur therein as highly conducive
to trade and the revenue "it having been found by experience that
the present practice of ships lying dispersed up and down at the
election of the masters or commanders far remote from the places
of the [Customs] officers' abode and fixt residence [is the cause that]
the said officers have not been able to attend the due delivery of
ships importing European goods from England and taking in their
loading of tobacco for this kingdom so as to [be able to] certify in
judgment the quantity upon each ship." Ibid., p. 453.

Prefixing : (a) extract from the orders of the Prince George of
Denmark, Lord High Admiral, dated the 15th inst. to all Vice
Admirals and to Mr. Cheek, Marshal of the Admiralty.
"All ships and vessels trading from Whitehaven, Bristol or
any of the ports of this Kingdom to Ireland or to Holland
are to be esteemed as coasters" and if any of them have
been stopped, the embargo is to be removed.

petition of Tower Ward Deputy [Alderman] and Common Council
desiring that the ancient cartway leading from the east end of Thames
Street to the east end of Tower Street (which they allege to have lain
in a desolate condition ever since the fire of London, to the great
prejudice of the inhabitants) may be repaired and made good at the
Queen's charge for the common use and benefit of the city "or
that the inhabitants of the said Ward may be permitted to do the
