for Prizes "referring the accounts [? vouchers] not producible."

deliver to Mr. Thomas Jett senr. (appointed to register and pay
debentures made out by you and the Transports Commissioners
and the Commissioners of Accounts for the debts to the Army,

as have been made out] "upon the Forfeited Estates in Ireland
more than the said estates shall extend to satisfy") the several
books containing the counterparts of the said debentures in order
to prevent him being imposed upon by counterfeit debentures : and
likewise to deliver to him an account of the prizes taken during the

Warrant by Treasurer Godolphin to John Parkhurst not to
prosecute or molest Capt. John Norris, Commander of her Majesty's
ship Orford, for the 1447l. 14s. 0d. which he received from the
Victualling Commissioners for provisions made use of out of 2 prizes
which were taken at Newfoundland by the ships under his command
in 1697.
Appending : report by the Attorney General to the Lord Treasurer
on said Norris's petition. In 1697 Norris was Commander in Chief
of a Squadron and by instruction from the Admiralty he was ordered
to divide among the sea and land men employed in that service all
the spoil taken from the enemy on that voyage except guns, naval
stores and ordnance stores and ships of war. He took some prizes
and having made use of the provisions taken in the prizes to supply
the ships under his command he did by direction of the Treasury
receive 1447l. 14s. 0d. for the same from the Victualling Commissioners
and divided the same according to the said Instructions ;
and the late King ordered no prosecution against him &c. (see supra
Tr. Cal. vol. XIII, pp. 69, 262 ; XV, p. 266) ; and on the 21 June
1698 did direct the Commissioners of Prizes that if any of the ships
taken by him should be condemned as prize in England his Majesty's
share should be delivered to Capt. Norris. The 2 ships taken were
sold for 3107l. 3s. 4½d. of which the King's share amounting to 803l.
17s. 2d. and petitioner's share amounting to the same (making 1607l.
14s. 4d. in all of which nothing has been paid) belong to said Captain
by the King's bounty besides the 1447l. 14s. 0d. for provisions as
