Same to the Agents for Taxes of the petition of Richard Cobb (Coobb) one of the sureties of Thomas Cobb [late Receiver General for co. Southampton and the Isle of Wight] of the fourth 4s. Aid shewing that he has paid in equal proportion to the Duke of Bolton, Mr. Bishop and Mr. Burrard, and praying the like supersedeas [as has been granted to them]. Ibid.
Same to the Customs Commissioners of the petition of Stephen Creagh, of London merchant, shewing that Charles Stisted and Nathaniell Senior exhibited informations against him in the Exchequer in the name of Thomas Bellamy and others for French wines consigned to him and that he paid Stisted and Senior 360l. in in order to be discharged of the penalty but they omitted to discharge him and the Attorney General exhibited an information in the Exchequer for the said offence whereupon he gave bond to the late King to pay 4l. per tun for the Duty of those wines, which amounts to near 600l. : therefore prays that the said Stisted's and Senior's debt may be accepted in part satisfaction thereof. May 19. Royal warrant to the Clerk of the Signet for a privy seal to grant 100 loads of timber out of Whittlewood Forest and 225l. in money to be raised out of another 100 loads of timber towards the rebuilding of the Church of the parish of All Saints in Oxford : on the petition of the inhabitants of the said parish "towards completing the roof and other uses of their church which lately fell down." Same to same for a same for the payment out of the Tenths of the Clergy of the Diocese of York of 30l. per an. to Thomas Hewet, Surveyor General of Woods Trent North, to be paid over as follows viz. 5l. each to 4 verderers and [the] clerk of Sherwood Forest and the woodward there in lieu of a tree claimed by each of them annually as a fee : being in place of a privy seal of Wm. Please desire the Lord High Admiral's Council to order entertainment for him, his clerk and 2 servants on board a proper ship in said squadron and to appoint a boat to attend him as often as he shall desire same. William Lowndes to the Navy Commissioners. In your letter of the 7th inst. to the Lord Treasurer you desired the issue of 5000l. for imprests and bills of exchange. On the 12th inst. 3000l. thereof was accordingly directed for the [Navy] Ordinary. My Lord now directs the remaining 2000l. to be issued for imprests and bills of exchange and to be placed to the head of Wear and Tear : to be supplied out of the money that is advanced to the Treasurer of the Navy on this year's Land Tax ; all notwithstanding the former direction for the application of same to the course of the Navy.
