Report to the King from the Treasury Lords about embezzlements
out of the St. Peter prize, informed of by Richard Bovett against
John Underdown, a Customs officer, and Captain Caldwell of the
King's ship Anglesea and Cap. Cross of the Dover. From our
examination it appears that Samuel Winslow, a midshipman in
the Anglesea, saw 17 or 18 bales of lace taken out of the said prize,
15 thereof were put on board the Anglesea and 14 more of same on
the Dover; that Winslow by Caldwell's order brought the said prize
ship into Plymouth within two days and gave an account of the above
to the Prizes Commissioners 19 months ago; that Underdown
(on the information of Richard Bayly, carpenter of the Anglesea)
seized what he could find of said goods on the Anglesea; that the
sum which ought to have been divided among the seamen for so
much of the said prize as was delivered to the Prize Office was
1713l. 12s. 3d. but out of same there was 650l. stopped by order of
the Prizes Commissioners: that it does not appear what became of
the bales taken by Capt. Cross on board the Dover, but one bale thereof
was carried to Capt. St. Loe's house by Henry Bayly one of Capt.
Cross's boat's crew. The goods so taken out by the two captains
were valued by the Escrivain of the prize ship at 18,000l. and the whole

Treasury warrant to the Excise Commissioners to constitute
Deane Monteage as Accomptant General of the Revenues of Excise
on beer, ale and other liquors and also of the Duties on salt, malt,
and leather, with the salary of 250l. for himself and 160l. for 2 clerks:
all by the reason that the business is very much increased by
the Additional Duties on beer and ale and by the Duties on salt,
malt and leather and by the several appropriations the business
of the Comptroller's Office is too much for him to manage and [at the
same time] to make up the General Account of the [Excise] Revenue:
and the Excise Commissioners thinking it not fit that the Comptroller
should make up such General Account but that a General Accountant be appointed for the more speedy bringing up of [accountancy]
arrears and for the regular keeping and making up the said revenue

of John Pye shewing that being a solicitor for the coast service, he
prayed to surrender same and to be appointed collector at Newcastle
loco Mr. Isaacson deceased and did nominate Matsen to be his clerk
"which presentment being approved he was deputed collector":
therefore praying my Lords to consider his miserable estate and that
he may have the liberty of his person, papers and books to adjust

Royal warrant to the Lords Justices of Ireland for a patent under
the great seal of Ireland for a grant to Dame Frances O'Neile and Rose,
Mary, Eliza[beth] and Ann her daughters, of all the forfeited estate
in Ireland of Sir Neile O'Neile bart. deceased: to hold for 41 years
under the quit rents and crown rents due at the time of the forfeiture;
all upon condition that she release the judgment she and her daughters
have obtained against the Crown concerning the said estate and on
her accepting the present grant as in full of hers and her daughters'
incumbrances thereon and on her paying 100l. for the charges of
the inquisition: all by reason that on her petition for such lease as
above the Revenue Commissioners, Ireland did report Oct. 19 last
that she and her daughters brought their petitions of right and in
Trinity term 1693 had verdict against the King for her incumbrance
of 400l. per an. under her marriage settlement and the incumbrance
of 2500l. for portions of her said four daughters: since which verdict
she has received the growing rent and some part of the arrears:
the gross rental being 1100l. a year and the quit rents 104l. 18s. 6¾d.
and other incumbrances, the whole [incumbrances] amounting to

late Farmers of the Revenue Ireland being indebted to him did
assign to him a debt of the said amount due to them on the account
of William Hanaway, collector of Cork, during their farm which debt
the said Farmers were by the present King directed to discharge
on the petition of Mary Hanaway, widow of the said William, setting
forth that there was a greater debt due to her said husband from the
Crown for expenses and service relating to the building of the fort
