who presented these papers has received any instruction or is otherways enabled to explain them in such manner as that they may be
reduced to a certain state thereof for your Lordships' consideration.
But having some time since given notice to the Governors and to
the Collectors there of the want of authentical copies of all Acts and
Public Orders relating to the revenues and of all accompts of the
country revenues laid before Assembly pursuant to his Majesty's
instructions in that behalf, I have lately received an accompt
from Mr. Plater one of the Collectors that the same are preparing to
be sent over and may be expected by the next ship: upon the receipt
whereof I may be enabled to lay a perfect state of the accompts of
the said revenues before your Lordships. |

The paper No. 2 contains a list of causes tried in the Courts of
Maryland upon bonds given by masters of ships pursuant to the
[English] Acts of Trade, and hereby it appears that judgment
has been given for the King upon the forfeiture of four bonds of 1000l.
each and the Customs Commissioners [England] have proposed that
what shall accrue to his Majesty by recoveries on such like prosecutions may go towards the maintaining the Establishment of
officers lately settled in those parts for the better security of the
Plantation Trade. I see no objection thereto. |
