Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for laying a Duty upon Leather, for the Term of Three Years; and making other Provision, for answering the Deficiencies, as well of the late Duties upon Coals and Culm, as for paying the Annuities upon the Lottery and for Lives, charged on the Tonnage of Ships and the Duties upon Salt."

Streets of London, Westm. &c. for paving, Bill.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for explaining and enforcing the Act for paving and cleansing the Streets within the Cities of London and Westminster, and Borough of Southwarke, and Weekly Bills of Mortality, and Streets adjoining thereunto, and for widening the Street at the South End of London Bridge."

Militia Bill.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for raising the Militia of this Kingdom for the Year One Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-seven, although the Month's Pay formerly advanced be not re-paid."

Luxford versus Stone.

Upon Oath made at the Bar, by Richard Luxford, and Lawrence Bradon, "That Thomas Stone did strike Richard Luxford in this House below the Bar, and gave him opprobrious Language; who was then attending on a Committee of Lords, in Pursuance of an Order of this House:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod attending this House do forthwith attach the Body of the said Thomas Stone, and keep him in safe Custody; and this shall be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf; and that His Majesty's Attorney General do forthwith prosecute the said Thomas Stone for his said Offence.

Message from H. C. to return Sir W. Thompson's Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir John Bowles and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the speedy Payment of the Debts of Sir William Thompson Knight, Serjeant at Law, deceased;" to which they have agreed, without any Amendment.

Leighton's Bill.

Whereas this Day was appointed for hearing Counsel, for and against the Bill, intituled, "An Act for Relief of Baldwin Leighton Esquire, in relation to the Office of Warden of The Fleete:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear Counsel thereupon, on Tuesday next, at Eleven of the Clock.

Lustrings, &c. to encourage the Manufacture of, Bill:

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the further Encouragement of the Manufacture of Lustrings and Alamodes within this Realm; and for the better preventing the Importation of prohibited Goods, and Goods without paying the Duties charged on the same."

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Lord Herbert reported, "That the Committee had gone through the said Bill; and think it fit to pass, with some Amendments."

Which, being read Twice, were agreed to.

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill, with the Amendments, shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Report from the Committee appointed to consider of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the more effectual Relief of Creditors in Cases of Escapes, and for preventing Abuses in Prisons and other pretended Privileged Places," shall be made on Saturday next, at Eleven of the Clock.

Sir C. W. Bampfield versus Popham.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear Counsel, upon the Petition of Sir Copplestone Warwick Bampfeild and others, and the Answer of Alexander Popham put in thereunto, on Wednesday the Fourteenth Day of this Instant April, at Eleven of the Clock.
