This Day William Lord Berkeley of Stretion sat first in Parliament, upon the Death of his Brother John Lord Berkeley of Stretton.

His Writ bears Date 6° Aprilis, 9° Gul. Tertii.

Then he took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, pursuant to the Statutes.

Sir J. Heron, Leave from H. C. to attend.

The Messengers sent Yesterday to the House of Commons return Answer:

That the Commons give Leave to Sir Joseph Heron to attend the Lords Committees, as desired.

Duty on Leather, Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for laying a Duty upon Leather, for the Term of Three Years; and making other Provision, for answering the Deficiencies as well of the late Duties upon Coals and Culm, as for paying the Annuities upon the Lottery and for Lives, charged on the Tonnage of Ships, and the Duties upon Salt."

ORDERED, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, presently.

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the said Bill.

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Lord Cornwallis reported, "That the Committee had gone through the said Bill; and think it fit to pass, without any Amendment."

Message from H. C. with a Bill.

A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr. Norris and others:

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for annulling the Marriage of Hannah Knight, an Infant, and directing the Guardianship of the said Infant;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Watkinson and Gooding versus Knight's Bill.

Upon reading the Petition of Mary Watkinson and Thomas Gooding the Younger; praying to be heard, before the Second Reading of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for annulling the Marriage of Hannab Knight, an Infant, and directing the Guardianship of the said Infant:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Petitioners shall be heard, as desired, To-morrow, at Eleven of the Clock; and also any other Persons who shall think themselves concerned therein.

Hammond's Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for enabling the Sale of the Manor of Rowling in Kent, which, by Mistake, was by general Words comprised in the Marriage Settlement of Wm. Hammond Gentleman, contrary to the Meaning of the Parties."

ORDERED, That the Consideration of the said Bill be committed to the Lords following; (videlicet,)

Their Lordships, or any Five of them; to meet To-morrow, at Nine of the Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings near the House of Peers; and to adjourn as they please.

Hawkers and Pedlars Bill.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Bill, intituled, "An Act for licensing Hawkers and Pedlars, for a further Provision for Payment of the Interest of the Transport Debt, for the reducing of Ireland," shall be read the Second Time on Tuesday next, at Eleven of the Clock.

Coin, to prevent the counterfeiting of, Bill.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better preventing the counterfeiting the current Coin of this Kingdom."

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Lord Cornwallis reported, "That the Committee had made some Progress in the Bill; and desire another Time may be appointed, for them to sit again."

Lords Committees appointed to consider of a Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better preventing the counterseiting the current Coin of this Kingdom;" whose Lordships, having considered thereof, and heard such Persons concerning the same as they shall think fit, are afterwards to report.

Their Lordships, or any Five of them; to meet To-morrow, at Nine of the Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings near the House of Peers; and to adjourn as they please.

Newton to attend.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Mr. Newton do attend the Lords Committees appointed to consider of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better preventing the counterfeiting the current Coin of this Kingdom," Tomorrow, at Nine of the Clock in the Forenoon; and that he bring with him such Officers of the Mint, and other Persons as make the Tools belonging to the Mint, who can give the Committee an Account of several Matters mentioned in the said Bill.

Qnarter Sessions, to prevent Delays at, Bill.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to make perpetual and more effectual an Act, intituled, An Act to prevent Delays at the Quarter Sessions of the Peace."

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Bridgewater reported, "That the Committee had gone through the said Bill, without any Amendment."

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to make perpetual and more effectual an Act, intituled, An Act to prevent Delays at the Quarter Sessions of the Peace."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

ORDERED, That the Commons have Notice, the Lords have agreed to the said Bill, without any Amendment.
