other things in the said ratal advised to be excepted) :
to hold from 1676, Christmas, for 80 years under
the present rents of 2l. 10s. 8d. and 7l. 3s. 4d., payable
as in the former leases. And whereas certain leases
and terms of years have been already granted
by the King, or by others assigned, of all or the
greatest part of the premises, amongst other things,
to the Trustees of the Queen Consort, which [estate]
may continue longer than the term hereby granted
and the King's intention being to grant to said
Hall an estate in law of and in all such parts of the
said premises as are no part of the jointure of the
Queen Consort and also to empower and direct the
Trustees of the Queen Consort in case the said Queen
shall think fit, to grant, a present estate by leases
of the premises to said Hall for said 80 years under
abovesaid rents of 2l. 16s. 8d. and 7l. 3s. 4d., or in
case the said Queen shall not consent then to grant
the premises immediately after the said Queen's
death for so many of the said 80 years as shall be
then unexpired and under the abovesaid two rents ;
therefore the said Trustees are to execute such lease
accordingly without expecting any further authority
from the King. A covenant to be inserted that the
lessees will at their own charges do their best by law
within 10 years next to recover [to the Crown] all
such rents of houses or lands, parcel or reputed parcel
of the said manor or bailiwick (formerly granted
from the Crown under rents reserved for the same
and whereof the estates are yet in being, and not
before excepted) as are not in charge before the
Auditor, and all such houses and grounds as are
parcel or reputed parcel of the said manor or
bailiwick (net before excepted) which are illegally
held or concealed from the Crown.
Followed by : statement of opinion by Sir W. Jones
[Attorney General]. "I conceive this warrant
[to be] pursuant to Sir Charles Harbord's certificate,
and I have nothing to object against it."

Sir Charles Harbord's report [or ratal] abovementioned
are already in the Attorney General's
hands. (Treasurer Danby's subscription dated
July 9 of docquet hereof. This docquet states the
grant to be to Sir Joseph Sheldon and Nicholas

Treasurer Danby dated from the Cockpit to the
Duke of Lauderdale at Edinburgh. You will
understand by another way what the King has
ordered in the case of the prize ship Tortoise, which
hath now for four years been expecting an issue in
the way of justice there [Scotland]. The length
of time hath occasioned some trouble to his Majesty
by the repeated importunity of those who have
assignments on the product of that prize, the entire
interest whereof is hitherto in his Majesty. All
that I shall pray is that you would countenance
the despatch of that business, which being suitable
to his Majesty's orders I leave to your consideration.
