July 4 Treasurer Southampton to Lord Arlington touching Sir William Doyley's two letters asking for supply for the sick and wounded men. It is a charge involved in that of the Navy, and therefore the Treasurer of the Navy, I hope, will timely provide for it. For this purpose when Sir Thomas Clifford lately attended on this business it was promised to the Treasurer of the Navy that he should have an additional assignment for 20,000l. more. I do really move in this business with bowels, as it relates to sick and wounded men. As it concerns the prisoners, who are most numerous, and as I hear well supplied from others, and in their demeanour insolent, I leave that to the officers concerned. Desires Sir William Doyley's proposal (viz. to be supplied out of the militia money now returning from Norfolk and Suffolk, which His Majesty has designed for the Office of Ordnance), may be communicated to the King. Early Entry Book XIII. p. 85.

Ibid, p. 4.
