'This paper wilbe no guide to me unles you please withall to certify out of the records whether in truth there be any such tallies or not, for if there be such tallies their not being brought in in time doth not take away the right of payment but only postpones them in their course, but if the list for registering of the Customs tallies were mistaken and that in truth there were noe such tallies that money may without doubt be presently made use of for His Majesty's occasions. Wherefore I pray be pleased to let the records be searched and certify me in the margint of this paper whether you find any such mistakes."

Report to the King from the Treasury Lords on the case of the Earl of Carlingford, referred by order in Council of Jan. 21 last to the Treasury Lords and Lord John Berkeley, concerning the 4,000l. due to the King from said Earl for one year's rent reserved on the farm of Wine Licences in Ireland from 1668, Sept. 29 to 1669, Sept. 29. Said Earl may be discharged thereof by order from the King to the Lord Lieutenant and Council of Ireland and the Vice-Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer there on the said Earl's quitting to the King all his right in the 1,000l. per an. Same to same from same and the Lords of Ireland, &c., on the case of the Innocents in Ireland: in pursuance of the order in Council of Jan 26 last referring to the Treasury Lords, the Secretaries of State, and such of the Privy Council of Ireland formerly appointed a committee for the affairs of that kingdom, the case of such subjects in Ireland who as Innocents and by proviso were restored to their estates by the late Court of Claims there. We have heard the Agents for the said Innocents in the matter of their prayer for discharging them from payment of quit rents and arrears thereof since the late Act of Explanation, and think that instructions may be given to the Lord Lieutenant and Council of Ireland for said Innocents to have the benefit of the King's gracious intentions, as signified in the King's letters of Oct. 15 and Dec. 1 last, and that the moneys to be levied on them may be levied according to the several times set down in the contract with the farmers of the revenue, Ireland, and not otherwise. Prefixing:—(1) Petition to the King from John Lovelace and Thomas Howard, Esqrs., for a grant of the marsh land containing 2,500 acres and 200 acres in or near the parish of Gedney, Fleet and Holbeach, co. Lincoln, known as Gedney Marsh, which by grant of 1635, Aug., was given to Sir Peregrine Bertey and Sir Philip Landen, which grant was never proceeded upon as they were unable to enclose and improve any part thereof before the late unhappy troubles, and John Bertey, heir of said Sir Peregrine and to whom the whole grant accrued by survivorship, having conveyed his interest therein to petitioners.
