Succession of the Crown, and Rights of the Subject, Bill.

Then the House was adjourned into a Committee during Pleasure, to proceed in the Consideration of the Bill declaring the Rights of the Subject, and settling the Succession of the Crown.

The House being resumed;

The Earl of Mulgrave reported, "That the Committee had considered the Bill, and made several Amendments therein; which were offered to the Consideration of the House.

"Also the Committee desires the Judges may be appointed to prepare a Bill, for the King's dispensing in such Cases wherein they shall find it necessary to be dispensed with; and for the abrogating such Laws as have been usually dispensed with, and are useless; and also that the Judges do draw another Bill, for the restoring the Rights, Liberties, and Franchises of the City of London, and other Corporations."

Hereupon the House made the ensuing Orders:

"ORDERED, That the Judges do draw a Bill, to be presented to this House, for the King's dispensing in such Cases wherein they shall find it necessary to be dispensed: and for the abrogating such Laws as have been usually dispensed with, and are useless; and that they bring in the Bill on Monday the Second of December next."

"ORDERED, That the Judges do draw a Bill for restoring the Rights, Liberties, and Franchises, of the City of London, that have been so highly invaded, and all other Corporations, with all convenient Speed."

Then the Amendments were read, and agreed to; and it is ORDERED, That the Bill be read the Third Time To-morrow.

L. Lucas and L. Byron, Injunction, to prevent a Quarrel.

The House, being informed, "That some angry provoking Words had passed between the Lord Lucas and the Lord Byron," commanded them both to promise and engage, upon their Honours, to the House, That they would pass by those Words; and that there should be no further Proceedings in the Business, but continue Friends."

Which they obeyed.

Prize Ship Laden with Salt, to be used for the Navy.

The Earl of Nottingham acquainted the House, "That some of His Majesty's Ships have taken a Frenshe Ship laden with Salt, which is condemned, and will be executed on Monday next, according to the Proclamation of His Majesty, declaring War against the French King: That His Majesty hath extraordinary Use for Salt for His Navy; therefore it is desired, that some Means may be taken that this Salt may be put into the Custody of the Commissioners of His Majesty's Navy, to be employed in Service."

After some Consideration;

The Question being put, "Whether to send a Message to the House of Commons, that both Houses may make an Address to His Majesty about this Business?"

It was Resolved in the Negative.
