Message from H. C. for a Conference, about the Vote concerning King James's Abdication, &c.
A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Dolbin and others:
To desire a Free Conference, upon the Subject-matter of the last Conference.
The Answer returned was:
Answer.
That the Lords will give a Free Conference, as desired; and appoints the same to be presently, in the Painted Chamber.
Then these Lords following were appointed to manage this Free Conference:
The Commons being come; the House was adjourned, and the Lords went to the Free Conference.
The Free Conference being ended, the Lords returned.
The House was resumed.
Report of the Conference.
The Managers of the Free Conference reported the Substance of the said Free Conference: "That the Commons do not agree with their Lordships, in the Amendment to their Vote; but insist upon the Word ["abdicated"] instead of the Word ["deserted"]; and also upon these Words ["and that the Throne is thereby vacant"].
Vote that King James has abdicated, and that the Throne is vacant, agreed to.
And, after Debate, this Question was put,
"Whether to agree with the House of Commons in the Word ["abdicated"], instead of the Word ["deserted"]; and to the Words that follow, ["and that the Throne is thereby vacant"]?"
Resolved in the Affirmative.
Protest against it.

ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal assembled at Westm. That To-morrow Morning, before the Vote for the Prince and Princess of Orange being declared King and Queen of Engl'd, and all the Dominions thereunto belonging, be communicated to the House of Commons, this House shall enter into Consideration of the Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy.
Jennison, imprisoned as a Romish Priest, released.
Upon reading the Petition of Robert Jennison; shewing, "That, by an Order of the Lords assembled at Westm. of the 24th of Decemb'r last, he was committed Prisoner to Newgate, for being a Romish Priest;" and also shewing, "That he never was a Romish Priest, nor of any other Order in the Romish Church; but hath for divers Years last past been a married Man, and hath now a Wife and Children:"
It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal assembled at Westm. That the said Robert Jennison be, and is hereby, discharged from his present Imprisonment; and this shall be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.
To the Keeper of Newgate, his Deputy and Deputies.
Lords absent excused.
The Duke of Newcastle, and Lord Darcy and Conyers, their Absence excused, upon their Letters to the Speaker.
