Prayers.

Stevens' Estate.

A BILL for Sale of the Estate of Wm. Stevens, deceased, for Payment of the Mortgages thereupon, and applying the Overplus for the Benefit of his Sons, was read the Second time.

Resolved, That the Bill be committed to Colonel Perry, Colonel Greenfield, Sir Richard Davers, Mr. Christy, Colonel Goldwell, Mr. Hutchinson, Mr. Tredenham, Mr. Slater, Sir John Bolls, Mr. Cook, Mr. Shackerly, Mr. Dyot, Mr. Brewer, Mr. Lutterell, Mr. Waller, Mr. Arnold, Mr. Foley, Mr. Blofield, Mr. Dryden, Mr. Vincent; and all the Members that serve for the County of Kent: And they are to meet this Afternoon at Four a Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber.

Encouraging Privateers.

Mr. Bedingfield reported from the Committee, to whom it was referred to consider of the Petition of the Merchants at Mounts-Bay in Cornwall; and also to inspect and consider of the late Act for Encouraging of Privateers; and to prepare, and bring in, a Bill for their better Encouragement; That they had considered the Matter to them referred; and had prepared a Bill for the better Encouragement of Privateers; which they had directed him to present to the House: And the same was received; and read the First time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time.

African Company.

A Petition of the Clothiers, in and about Witney in the County of Oxon, was presented to the House, and read, setting forth, That, by reason of the great Difficulties and Disturbance occasioned by Interlopers who trade to Africa, the Royal African Company of England have been much discouraged in their Trade to those Parts; whereby the Petitioners, who have their chief Dependence on the said Company, are so much impoverished, that unless some speedy Relief be given, they cannot subsist in their several Employments: And praying, That the Traffick of the said Company may be protected in such manner as the House shall think meet.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to the Committee, to whom the Petition of the Royal African Company is referred.

C. Turner's Estate.

An ingrossed Bill for settling the Inheritance of some Parts of the Estate of Charles Turner Esquire, which lie dispersed, in himself, and his Heirs; and settling an entire Estate of greater Value, in lieu thereof, to the Uses that the said other Part of his Estate were settled; was read the Third time.

Resolved, That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be, An Act for settling the Inheritance of some Parts of the Estate of Charles Turner Esquire, which lie dispersed, in himself, and his Heirs; and settling an entire Estate, of greater Value, in lieu thereof, to the Uses that the said other Parts of his Estate were settled.

Ordered, That Sir Jonathan Jennings do carry the Bill to the Lords; and desire their Concurrence thereunto.

Ease of Jurors.

Ordered, That the Debate upon the ingrossed Bill for the Ease of Jurors who serve at Assizes for England and Wales, be further adjourned until Thursday Morning next, at Eleven a Clock: And that the Members of this House of the Long Robe do then attend the Service of this House.

Importing Saltpetre.

Resolved, That this House will, To-morrow Morning at Eleven a Clock, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of the Bill, for the Importation of Saltpetre.

Vexatious Suits.

Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill for the Amendment of the Law in taxing of Costs, and preventing of Suits, by involuntary Trespasses: And that Mr. Harcourt do prepare, and bring in, the same.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Sir Thomas Dyke have Leave to go into the Country for Three Weeks, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Ordered, That Mr. Freeman have Leave to go into the Country, for Recovery of his Health.

Ordered, That Sir Richard Hart have Leave to go into the Country for Recovery of his Health.

Ordered, That Mr. Hyde have Leave to go into the Country for Three Weeks, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Ordered, That Sir St. Andrew St. John have Leave to go into the Country for Three Weeks, his Lady being very ill.

Ordered, That the Lord Fairfax have Leave to go into the Country for a Fortnight, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Petition from Lord Falkland.

A Petition of Anthony Lord Viscount Falkland, a Prisoner in the Tower, was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That he is highly sensible of the Displeasure of this House; and that a longer Continuance of his Consinement will be extreamely prejudicial to him: And therefore praying to be discharged.

Ordered, That the said Lord Falkland be discharged from his Imprisonment in the Tower.

Arundell Election.

Ordered, That the Report from the Committee of Elections and Privileges, touching the Election for the Borough of Arundell, be made To-morrow Morning.

Call of the House.

Ordered, That the Call of the House be adjourned till To-morrow Sevennight.

Ways and Means.

Resolved, That this House do immediately resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of Ways and Means for raising the Supplies to be granted to their Majesties, for the Maintenance of the Fleet, and Land-Forces for the Service of the Year 1694.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton reported from the said Committee, That they had come to several Resolutions; which they had directed him to report, when the House would please to receive the same.

Ordered, That the said Report be made upon Wednesday Morning next.

Sir Tho. Littleton also acquainted the House, That he was directed by the said Committee to move, That they may have Leave to sit again.

Resolved, That this House will, upon Wednesday Morning next, at Eleven a Clock, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of Ways and Means for raising the Supplies to be granted to their Majesties, for Maintenance of the Fleet, and Land-Forces, for the Service of the Year One thousand Six hundred Ninety-four.

Ordered, That all Committees be revived.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Nine a Clock.
