Upon the Petition of Robert Draper, Esquire, Servant to His Majesty, shewing, that he was lately arrested, at the Suit ofone Humphrey Abdy; it is Ordered, That the said Robert Draper be forthwith discharged, and set at Liberty from his present Restraint and Imprisonment, now in The Marshalsea; and that the said Humphry Adby be sent for, as a Delinquent, to answer the Fact before this House.

Jackson's Arrest.

Ordered, That the Cause between Captain William Jackson and Frere and others, shall be heard, before the Lords Committees for Petitions, on Tuesday the 25th of this Instant May; and all Parties interested therein are to have Notice thereof, and attend their Lordships accordingly. And lastly, that the said Thomas Frere shall, upon Sight hereof, pay, or cause to be paid, all such Sum or Sums of Money as he was to have paid to the said Captain William Jackson by virtue of a former Order of this House.

Dr. Cosens and others appear concerning their Impeachment.

Dr. Cosens, and some others, that are Delinquents in the Impeachment brought up from the House of Commons, were called in, who kneeled at the Bar, and stood and heard the Impeachment read.

The Names of such as were present, and appeared according to their Recognizances; videlicet,

After the Impeachment was read, Dr. Cosens made it his humble Request to the House, in Behalf of himself and the rest, that this Cause may be heard publicly before the whole House.

Hereupon it was Ordered, That Dr. Cosens, and others, against whom the Impeachment is, shall severally make their Answers on Monday the 24th of this Instant May; and that they attend the Committees for Privileges on Monday next, at Two a Clock in the Afternoon, from whom they shall receive Directions how and in what Manner they shall put in their Answers, whether in Writing or by Word of Mouth, and how the further Proceedings shall be.

Lord St. Johns introduced.

This Day the Lord St. Johns of Blettso was introducted, in his Robes, between the Lord Hunsden and the Lord Grey de Wark. He delivered his Writ, upon his Knee, to the Speaker; which being delivered to the Clerk, it was read. Then the Lord Great Chamberlain, the Lord Mowbray, in Place of the Earl Marshal his Father, and the King of Heralds, going before him, he was brought and placed next below the Lord Hunsden.

Ordered, That the Defendants on Daniell Oneale's Petition shall put in their Answers into this House the Third Week of the next Sessions of Parliament.

Report from the Committee for Defence of the Kingdom, concerning Guernsey and other Forts.

The Earl of Bath reported, "That the Earl of Danby brought in a particular Account to the Committee for the Defence of the Kingdom, of such Necessaries as are to be provided for the beter Securing of the Island of Guarnesey, the Charge whereof amounts to Three Thousand Two Hundred Fiftythree Pounds, Twelve Shillings, Seven Pence, which Sum if it be provided, the Provisions are ready. The Opinion of the Committee was, to have a Conference with the House of Commons concerning the providing of the said Money;" which this House consented to.

Next, he reported it as the Opinion of the said Committee, "That some Officers be sent down, to view and survey the Defects and Decays of the Forts and Castles of all the Maritime Towns; and to certify what Sums of Money will repair and supply those Defects and Reparations:" Which accordingly was Ordered by the House.

Committee to prepare Heads for a Conference on this Business.

Ordered, That these Lords do meet To-morrow Morning, at Eight a Clock, and draw up Heads for a Conference, concerning the Islands of Jarsey and Garnsey, and the Forts: videlicet,

Their Lordships, or any Three of them, to meet.

Survey of the Forts, &c. to be laid before the Committee.

Ordered, That Sir Dudley Carleton, one of the Clerks of the Council, shall bring, or cause to be brought, on Saturday, the 15th of this Instant May, unto the Lords Committees for the Defence of the Kingdom, the Books of Survey of the Forts and Ports of this Kingdom.

Order about Books in Mr. Smart's Cause to be brought to this House.

Ordered, That Dr. Clarke, Dr. Nayler, and Dr. Duncombe, shall forthwith bring, or cause to be brought, unto the Clerk of the Parliament, the Book of Acts of the Dean and Chapter of Durham.

Ordered, That the Earl of Stamford and the Lord Herbert de Chierbury be added to the Committee for the Defence of the Kingdom.

Lord St. John takes the Protestation, and the Chief Baron.

The Lord St. Johns of Bletsoe took the Protestation, and subscribed it.

Sandeland discharged.

Whereas Andrew Sandeland, Clerk, hath been long in Custody, for Words alledged to have been spoken by him, for which this House had just Cause to have inflicted Punishment upon him if they had been proved; but, after a long Time, no Prosecutor appearing against him, it is Ordered, That the said Andrewe Sandeland be forthwith discharged, and set at Liberty, of and from his present Restraint or Imprisonment; and that any Bond, or other Security, entered into by the said And. Sandelande for his Attendance upon this House, shall be forthwith canceled, and delivered up to him.

Mr. Waferer discharged.

Ordered, That Mirth Waferer, Clerk, having been long in Custody, be forthwith discharged of his Restraint; and his Bonds, and other Security given for his Attendance on this House, be delivered up to him to be canceled, and his Cause dismissed this House, because no Prosecutors have this long Time appeared.
