PRAYERS.

Justice Heywood stabbed by James.

The Lord Keeper signified to the House, from the King, "That His Majesty was informed of the foul Fact committed lately on Justice Heywood, who was stabbed in Westminster Hall (the King's House), by one James; and that His Majesty desires the Business may be speedily examined by this House; and to proceed against him with such exemplary Punishment as the Wisdom of this House shall think fit." (fn. 1)

Proceedings against the E. of Strafford to be speedy and secret.

To the Fourth Head, "That the Proceedings may be speedy and secret," it was Agreed, That their Lordships will provide that they may be so.

Members of the H C to be present at the Examinations.

For the Fifth, "That some Members of the House of Commons may be present at the Exami

Memorandum, That this, by Consent of the House, was commanded to be vacated, being Resolved afterwards.

3. "The Examination of the Privy Counsellors upon Oath.

Before their Lordships proceeded, they thought it fit that the Oath of a Privy Counsellor should be read; which accordingly was Twice publicly read And then, for the better discussing of the Particulars, the House was adjourned into a Committee, during Pleasure.

Afterwards, the House being resumed,

It was Ordered, "That Privy Counsellors shall be examined upon Oath."

"nations," this House hath referred it to the Committee of Privileges, to look upon Precedents; and to report them to the House; and afterwards their Lordships think it fit to have a Conference with the House of Commons.

It was Ordered, That the Lord Bishop of Lincolne shall be added to the Committee of Privileges.

Answer.

Dominus Custos Magni Sigilli declaravit præsens Parliamentum continuandum esse usque in diem Martis, videlicet, 24m diem instantis Novembris, hora nona, Dominis sic decernentibus.
