Church of Bishopstone (E. Suss.): Bishopstone bp.'s manor 1086 (DB I 16d; for the earlier history, see AS Chs. of Selsey no. 15 note). Preb. called preb. of Bishopstone in late 12th century, with pension from chapel of [South] Heighton (Acta no. 105; Chart. Chichester no. 401). Cf. Chart. Chichester no. 270.
Two-thirds of great tithes of land in Ferring parish, adjudicated to this preb. by bp. Seffrid II, 16 Nov. 1180 × c. 17 March 1204 (Acta no. 91).

Guy, dean of Bishopstone (ibid. no. 64), as Guy, dean of Bishopstone (ibid. no. 89), as Guy of Bishopstone (ibid. nos. 117, 122), and as Guy (ibid. no. 72). Occ. as Guy, canon, 1192/3 (ibid. no. 84). Last certain occ. as canon, with full name, as one of three distributors of the commons, 1197/8 (ibid. no. 101). Rubric in Liber Y over record of settlement of his dispute with Roger the chapl. (preb. Ferring, list 15) over tithes in Ferring, 16 Nov. 1180 × c. 17 March 1204, calls him 'Guidonem canonicum de Hilie' (Acta no. 91).
